1. If about three to five years ago, your ears weren't assaulted with Tye Tribbet shouts, then not only did you not left your house in that time period .... you are not a real gospel musician!

2. If the Pastor doesn't give honor to god all the way down to makers of the communion wafers, and never acknowledge the musicians ... you are not a real gospel musician.

3. If you've never had to remind someone that didn't want to pay you, or thought you shouldn't get paid for playing, that what they call a "gift" is actually hours upon hours, and years upon years of practicing and playing ... then you are not a real gospel musician.

If you have never had "someone" sitting at a $17,000 desk imported from Japan, in his 1000 sf office dressed to the nines on a weekday, while his 2008 S550 is outside being detailed by the churches Mens Ministry try to gain your sympathy by telling you, "well you know members arent giving like they use so thats the reason we cant afford to pay you at this time, if I could afford to pay you out my pocket, I would but I dont even get that much"............. You aint a real church musician.

If you haven't played in a service in which the pastor holds an offering after every section of the service and you still dont get paid, you're not a real gospel musician!

IF you have never been in a church where the Pastor constanlty teaches/preaches about giving and sowing but always has an excuse as to why he cant pay you, you aint a real church musician.

If a pastor, without your consent, replaces a previously negotiated monetary compensation amount with "God's going to bless you with "fill in the blank" you are not a real church musician. lol!!

I do know you may have said that in fun but my church doesn't go that route. They never miss payroll and if they do, due to the an issue with the payroll company, we all recieve emails and a live check is waiting for us. If a service is misssing or a voucher isn't put in we must foto the poin person that brought us in for that particular service and hold them to task. One thing our pastor always wants is excellence and that is what we all should be striving for.

that's why I just drafted a music agreement that stipulates payment 15 minutes BEFORE start;or the bus LEAVES early-like 14 minutes before "service"

That's cool to do esp if you're dealing w people yu don't know. I just thank GOD that his favor has given me a good name so when people call me for a gig or a service, they already understand whats up. Been doing this too long to be chasing anyone.

If you don't know the meaning of "we'll take care of you".

If you've never spent more on gas getting somewhere than you got paid when you got there.

If you've never had to ask someone for gas money to get home because you though you were going to get paid.

LOL!! I metioned them fat envelopes with $37.00 in ones and $3.00 in coins but the way you posted it was much funnier. I was so excited that I opened the envelope before I started my car.

reminds me of a fav evangelist whom the pastor had stand at the end of service with a collection basket for his(evan;s) work.As the crowd filed past-putting in an offering,he say many $5,10,20 bills.They take the offering back to count it and credit the checks;at the end,evan got a envelope of $1 s.

All this talk of being paid in $1's reminds me of that scene in the movie RAY where Ray Charles insists on being paid in singles - of course back in the 1950's, $1 was worth about what $5 or $10 would be today... :p

Honestly this one is on you. If you were told you would get compensated and your money wasn't given to you when you got there AND no one approached you after the service you should have become the aggressor and gone up to whoever your contact person was and ask them who you need to speak to about getting your check.

Its not rude its business. In every industry when someone is supposed to be paid for something they will darn near sleep on your doorstep. Just see what happens when you don't pay one of your bills.
