Everyone has an opinion, but I want to ask this question.

Has anyone heard Calvin play with Fred yet?

Just wondering. I've liked Marvin since I heard him play with Tim Bowman. I've liked Calvin since I saw him play live with John Kee in Houston in 97 or 98. Two different styles. Both killin' in their respective niches.

Marvin has helped Fred form his signature style, so he will be missed. But trust me. . .the music and style are not suffering now that Calvin is playing with Fred. I saw Fred at Fountain of Praise in 2004 and Calvin was playing with him. I still felt Fred. Calvin's hands are faster than Marvin's but the level of music didn't jump up a notch just because Calvin was there. Nor did the music feel 'lost' because Marvin wasn't playing anymore.

Two great guys. . . but I think I would take Marvin (with Fred) just because it seems like his face BELONGS with RFC.

My 2 cents.
It's God's way. . . or Hell to pay

I saw Calvin wit fred Last year when he came to my town ( Portland oregon). People rarely come here and I was so happy when I heard he was commin. I got me a seat in the front and it was lovely. Calvin was doin what he does, Standin up and playin at the same time and all that. Yea he is fast and i definitely feel that the flavor of Fred is not lost. I dont even know how to describe what calvin did when he came but it was rediculously stupid.

This is another dumb post! Marvin and Calvin are both great players. They both have their own thing that have made them great! Ignorance comes when you disrespect any on them! As for Fred Hammond I seen both play for him and both were awesome, you cant blame Fred not sounding the same or being as good on musicians, blame Fred.

Yo, Did You Peep Calvin Out When They was singin "Celebrate (He Lives)"....Or was it only my town....Well When They said..."Everybody jus lift your hands if you kno that jesus is worthy...While they was singing that verse Calvin Lifted Up his hand and waved it from side to side while clowning wit the other hand...I thought that was kool...

Dude you over rate Calvin Rodgers!!! I mean he is ok but he is not what you pump him up to be. I am to Calvin Rodgers like Maestro_ Divine is to Spanky. I mean I hear his fills done at alot of church services I go to and it gets really boring. He is a good drummer getting all the gigs, makin more money than me and I cant take that away from him but he is highly over rated. I have heard him do 5 min solos with click tracks which they were ok but they weren't all that. Im not hatin im just giving my honest opinion. I know drummers who can write out his solos in probably 20 min at the most and play them backwards. Ask SabianKnight, we know plenty of drummers out there that will embarrass Spanky, Calvin, Marvin, everybody on here, but they are low key with their playing. They are known veterans who would rather hear a straight beat or an orchestra rather than chops that they already know how to do. I will try to get clips of them if I can but they are so private that they probably wouldnt want me recording them on camera.
