With folks going on and on about songs that'll put a congregation under their pews (or seats) I ask this:
What song gets your church going?
*side bar* Peach, we already know your answer.  *end side bar*
At my old church, it was "Let's just praise the Lord" (T.D. Jakes) and "Press towards the mark" (Norman Hutchins)
But, I think the all-time-will-rock-any-church-anywhere song is.......
ALL HAIL KING JESUS
Your thoughts?
GOTTA CATEGOTIZE THIS ONE FOR YA...
BEST THROWBACK: "Changed" - Walter Hawkins. When I listen to that original recording, I do not think that they even knew the impact that that song would make on peoples lives and on Gospel music as a whole.
BEST DUSTY: "Call Him Up" - Provided that it is done CORRECTLY, you definitely need to summon the ushers and nurses with this one.
BEST LATE 90'S CUT: "For Every Mountain" - Kurt Carr. The reflective nature of this song can make the most stubborn person cry.
BEST NEW MILLENIUM CUT: "You Are the Living Word" - Fred Hammond & RFC. Breaks the whole deal down like no other.
BEST 2006 CUT: ?????????????????????? You tell me...
I'm feeling you on the catagorizing so let's see.
for throwback, I'm good with "Changed" that song is a monster!! Now, I don't know if it's a throwback, but I also love "Marvelous" by Walter Hawkins
forgive me, but I don't know what a 'dusty' isLate 90's cut: I can understand your choice, but what about "Stand" by Donnie Mac?
I'm going to have to disagree with you on the best new millenium cut being, "You are the living Word" I'd have to give that title to "Praise is what I do"
And, we are waaaay to earlier into '06 to even answer that question.
And, then there's "My help (cometh from the Lord) by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir which sent my old church into a frenzy...during a funeral.
