Progression Practice Routine
« on: January 10, 2006, 01:44:42 PM »
I don't know if I posted this already, but here is a routine you can practice every time you get to a keyboard to get you used to playing  in all keys.  Don't miss a key now, alright?  It doesn't matter what key you start at, but I recommend starting at C.  Here goes nothing:

Progression wise, I suggest practicing 7-3-6-2-5-1 the most cuz that is a common progression.  Any time you want to modulate to another key, the best way to do it is by playing the 4 chord of your new key with the 5th of your new key in the bass:

Key C

C-C / D-E-G-C (1)
C-C / G-C-D-E
C-C / Ab-C-D-F

T-Block that was a great post. I haven't been playing very long and this type of practice routine will give me something structured to practice. I'll no longer just sit at the piano and TRY to figure out different songs or chord progressions.  Thanks again and God Bless.

T-block thanks for the lesson you submitted, but being a beginner I don't know what the progressions should sound like.  So inturn I don't know if I'm doing it right.  I found this file on Gospelkeyboard  Title "progressions in c" http://www.gospelkeyboard.com/files/play.php?id=003330 could you:

1.  Tell me if this follows what you're teaching/showing us here

2.  If so break it down

3.  Tell T-block keep on blessing us

Thanks for everything you bless us with :o :o ;) ;D :)
