Help Please
« on: November 01, 2005, 11:57:28 AM »
Praise the Lord to everyone.
I am in desperate need of help.  I am playing for a guy from my school on thursday.  The song he has written is in the key of A. I have no idea how to play in this key.  Can someone please give me some chords I can use.

God Bless,
   Brother Wilder

Well, try this. Whatever song it is, play it in a key that you're familiar with, such as Ab. Then, you just have to transpose the chords from the key you know to the key you don't.

For example, if you play in Ab, all you have to do is move up a 1/2 step to A; or if you play in Bb, all you have to do is move down a 1/2 step.

Now, if you play in Eb, then use the number system to help you transpose.

For example:

in Eb:

Eb/ EbGBb (1 chord)
Ab/AbCEb (4 chord)
Bb/BbDF (5 chord)

now to transpose into A just use the numbers:

in A

A/AC#E (1 chord)
D/DF#A (4 chord)
E/EG#B (5 chord)

This will take time, especially if you aren't familiar with the number system, but it will work.

Pray this helps,
Jonathan
