Practicing rudiments with a metronome.
Single stoke roll, double stokes, etc.

In addition to using a metronome, playing along to cd's can help. Just try to lay your playing on top of whoever is playing so you can't hear a difference in between their hits and yours.

playing to a metronome. i'll play a groove for a while then reach over and set it so that it just does the hits for the "e" and the "a" meaning that i dont hear the usual one-e-and-a just, -e-a. when i first started doing it coming in off a fill was wierd because i would find myself coming in on the "e" now it's no problem.

I use many tools to work on my timing, metronome, click tracks, playin with cd's and everything, which are all excellent tools, but if you wanna be real honest with yourself and you have the luxury, record your self playin, like if you chuch has the ability to record stuff, just jam with your band at church, then listen to what you just played, you'll be suprised how off you sound sometimes and it will do nothing but help you better learn how to accent songs and really layback and just relax into a groove
