Hey Everyone,

I'm a decent musician

(bassisst) and I'm considering stepping up my game and perfecting my craft by going to music school. I know you don't need school to do that, but what do you guys/girls think about that? Has any of you made a choice to attend school for music and how did it help you? Also any recommendations on any schools would be great. P.S. I already know about Berklee.

...you have the opportunity to enhance not only your bass playing skills but to have enough knowledge of music where you can become a leader in any band you play...

I haven't done music school full-time. However, I've taken a couple courses part-time. I would recommend as much school as you can. If you're already a natural, go to school to become legendary.

I would like to go back to school and get a music degree.

Find out where an excellent bass player is intructing on the staff, and Go there ASAP.

I think Christian McBride teaches somewhere on the East Coast, but pick your own.

I agree with the other members... If you can go to school, GO....I studied at Virginia State U.

You learn alot of theory in school, and that helps alot if you are trying to learn a 2nd, or 3rd instrument...versatility is the name of the game in my opinion. Go to school, any school can teach you something you ded not already know.

Go to school, it can help you develop as a musician, and you'll learn theory which will help your bass playing. Find a school with a good bass program.
