Hip hop didn't start out as the type of music that we hear today. It's first purpose was to educate others about urban life and was meant to be a positive outlet for inner city youth. Over the years drugs, sex, and money perverted hiphop into the sinful mutant we hear on the radio today.

This subject is something else!  My heart feels heavy just reading some of the replies, not because of my position of the topic, but simply because I know that somefolk are really heated about this issue.   :'(

I hope I'm not being redundant but I think we all need to keep I mind that the beauty about gospel music is that it is a musical proclamation of the story of Jesus Christ and who He is. That's doctrine about gospel music it can't be anything else……music that tells the gospel, whether you use Cmaj7 chords, dimished "so-called devil's chord", or a harp, or urban beats that are also used in the hip-hop genre…..the message is what's important. Not the package….the package is used to appeal to the audience so you get their attention, but the focus is Christ no matter how its presented as long as it is biblically true…it's marvelous in God's eyes.
All to Jesus I surrender and Humbly give my life
