What do yall think about Yamaha?
« on: March 16, 2005, 03:51:39 PM »
This is what I think about Yamaha, I think Yamaha is one of the most successful companies that exist. I say that because they make the top of the line drums, keyboards, dirtbikes, and so on. You wont find too many companies that make the top of the line kayboards and drums at the same time. Let me know your thoughts and opinions.

Me personally, I think that Yamaha is THE most sucessful company as from as it's feild of work is concerned. Beacuse if you think about it Yamaha is the ONLY company that is really on the map for producing, Drums, Keybaords, Guitars, Live Sound Products, Bikes, Radios, and alot of other things that aren't mentioned.
Bottom Line: There is NO other company doin' it like YAMAHA.

(evan though they don't have some of the best equipment)

I really agree, but as far as drums, keyboards, and guitars they are the best. Prime Example: Yamaha Stage Custom Series(Drums), Yamaha Motif(keyboard), Yamaha Psr Series(Keyboard), last but not least they make some of the best snares I have ever played and heard.

Sorry.... but I voted, NO. I don't beleive they are the most succeful company  in the biz. I really hate Yamaha bass drums for some reason. There's something about the sound that I can't get around. Profit-wise I am sure they are very well off. They market very well and they charge a lot for pretty good products. I was a DW hater for a while, but the more of been around drums and building my own drums I've noticed that DW has a distinct sound that is very different than other companies they have the right recipe when it comes to making their own shells in my opinion. I think the most succesful company out there has got to be hands down no question about it ................ZILDJIAN. It's a family business that has was founded in 1623. THAT'S ALMOST 4 DECADES!!! And they're still at the top of the game. Sabian wouldn't exist without Zildjian. I like that they are not quick to slap some artist's name on their product to sell. (The Zildjian name sells itself, that's why)

Ok thats pretty resonable. I am not trying to be smart and correct you, but do you mean 4 centuries instead of decades because 4 decades is only 40yrs and your date was 1623 which was almost 4 centuries ago. But your reasoning and your philosophy is straight

Yamaha to me is the definition of hard work engineering. What made me start falling in love with Yamaha, was when i heard Vinnie Colaiuta playing them on theBuddy Rich Memorial Scholarship. It seemed from there that Yamaha started to appeal to me because i was in search of a company that had the professional drummer in mind. Yamaha Is about to take over!!!!!

I guess  Vinnie didn't dig yamaha for too long wince he isn't signed with them anymore. I  have never liked Yamaha bass drums. I think Yamaha is also way overpriced.

V.C. went with Gretsch because he was using their drums in the studio a lot and that's what he was doing and still is doing to this day; session drumming.  Gretsch drums gave him that sound he was looking for.

Don't be fooled, there are a lot of cats that are sponsored by X drumming company and record using a Gretsch kit.

Honestly, I have played them all from DW and on down the line, and I must say that Spaun Drums are killing them all. But next to Spaun, Yamaha is the next best thing, especially when it comes to drums. Out of all the sets I've played yamaha has the most consistency. Honestly, I have a stage custom set and i'm satisfied with that, being that this semi-pro kit has a professional sound. But if I had more money than I could count, I'd get a Spaun and a YAMAHA set hands down.
My goal as a musician is to be better than myself.
