I started out the classical way so i learned how to play in all of the so called "white" keys. However since i started learning gospel music, i LOVE F#. its such a great key to play in. Next fave key is G then Bb.

C just sounds so ordinary and bland. I know this is not really true but whenever i have to play a song in C i have never liked the sound at all.

I cant for the life of me figure out how people like playing in Ab. To me its a very awkward key, so is Eb and A. I dont mind B at all.
The car, job, house wife/husband are not the reward, God is.

I started out the same way except I got exposure to all keys on a regular when I first started playing. I've always played in all keys because I had a casio with no transpose and a upright piano. Then I got my first real keyboard. Yamaha SY55!!! I transposed everything to Eb just because I could. Oddly, the key of "E" hasn't felt the same since that day.

Hey Fenix, welcome to the F# world ;) I wonder if most guys who like F# would find B to come naturally like us.

G is not on my fav list so far, but it's quickly climbing up the ladder. A is also rating up there. Ab also came naturally somehow.Bb isn't my friend, but is coming along ok.

In one response a commenter wrote that the church musician should be able to play in all keys.
I can play in several keys. If someone should come and first of all not rehearsed the song and sing in some off or unfamiliar key. I believe people sung without music before they had it!!!!!!

Hi Vickimb57, welcome to the LGM fam :)

U'r quite right.
everything needs a place to start, & music is no exception to that.

1 is doing themselves an extreme favor by learning to  @ least play in all the major scales.
