« on: February 12, 2007, 03:17:16 PM »
I need to choose a song for a homegoing service, solo. Do you all have any ideas? I was thinking Safe From Harm by BeBe Winans, thanks for your responses.

Come on I really need some ideas. I know the hymns. I want to do something that will promote healing, this is a tough situation for a family I know. THanks again!

What about "My life is in Your Hands" by Kirk Franklin?
Despite our communication technology, no invention is as effective as the sound of the human voice.

Ok my standard funeral list goes as...

I'll Fly Away old time version
I'll Fly Away (Hezekiah Wallker version)
He'll Understand and say well done (old skool gospel with Baptist Bump)
I Know that I Can Make it (Kirk Franklin)
I will bless the Lord (new skool Byron Cage Version)
Everything to Me (Tye Tribbett)
For the Good of them (Thompson Community Choir with Kim McFarland)
All Things are working for me (Fred Hammond)
Still Have Joy (Tye Tribbett)

it depends on the age of the family and friends

Just make the people planning the funeral don't have you down for just the processional and recessional and have 5 soloists... That BURNS ME UP! >:(

I'll tell y'all a line my Pastor uses when he is in charge of a funeral... The selections and soloists have already been provided in the program. The music arrangements have already been made. Please act accordingly. (Translation: I don't care if this is YO MOMMA if you ain't in the program as a singer, DON'T SING cuz you will get SHUT DOWN)

Safe from harm is a GREAT choice.  If you are comfortable with that song you should sing it.

If you can get through it, May the Work I've Done Speak For Me is a good solo...
