I say turn it off unless you're one of the select few that will be in an emergency situation (i.e. ailing family member at home, volunteer firefighter, etc.). And even then it should go on vibrate.

Nobody in church wants to hear your Sanford & Son Theme Song Ringtone all loud right before the praise break.

i put mine on vibrate. i got in trouble tho yesterday because i was trying to call my cousin during choir rehersal. lol but we were just sitting there, and they were deciding on the next song to sing....so i was just chillin! lol

i put my phone on vibrate, but i don't answer or even look at it while i'm in service. it's just easier to put it on vibrate than to cut it off and wait for that reboot time when i turn it back on.

I always put my verizon phone on silent while in the sactuary. It does not inerfere with the sound system like my nextel does. I understand everyone's logic on why or why not to do this or that. However, I don't even look at my phone till after the service. I leave it on so I can see who called while I was in service. Cell phones are just like anything else, if you allow it to, it can become a distraction, Vibrate does make noticeable noise and if you have a phone with a SIM card just turn it off or leave it in the car cause it will cause feedback in the sound system. Nothing should interfere with God's time.

Yeah, that's the first thing I think of before I enter the Sanctuary. I don't really want to turn it off because I don't want to miss any important call, i.e, from my mom about my grandmama, my brother, so on and so forth. If my phone is off then I won't know they called, and it may be vital for me to answer the phone at any given time. My phone stays on vibrate because in between class, work, and church, I rarely have time to change it!

I don't even know why I paid for ring tones!

Look saints of God I know we all like technology and thank God for it and all but, this cell phone situation is just out of control. I remember seeing a guy with one phone on charge and talking on one while playing the organ with a ear piece. Come on now in church and it was a funeral to be so bad. Out of respect for God's house please turn them off, it's a distraction a bad one too. Just think about it what did you do when you didn't have a cell phone? If something was that important the person would call the church and ask them to contact you ASAP! So why not use the same judgement now. Don't lose the fear of God.

Sorry if I step on some toes. But, just don't have them there next time. LOL!

I agree that God's house should be respected and talking on your phone and distracting others is out of order in the church. However, my phone in my purse on silent distracts NO ONE. Unless someone is paying my cell bill, it will continue to be in my purse, on silent, and not a distraction to anyone because no one sees it.

If anyone chooses to keep their phone on silent then just remember to show God's house respect and not cause distractions in the service. This way we ALL can just get along.
