I hear some people say "praise & worship", and I hear others say "worship & praise".  Which comes first?

Either way is fine I guess.  At my church, we got a saying:  first comes the worship, then after the worship comes the praise, then after the praise comes the blessings.

it depends on the service to me.. we usually start off with a praise the bible says enter in to his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise.. when we think about worship we think abou the most holy place.. looking at the example givin in the bible the outer court the inner court and then the most holy place we start off with praise and then bring ourself into a place of communion but that can all change depending on the Holy Ghost thanks be to God

Hello All, It's been a while since I've been here.  But to respond to the question I think as before stated, it depends on the atmosphere of the service.  You have to be able to discern an know what kind of atmosphere in going on.  But in general I believe that praise initiates worship.  Praise comes before worship.  Notice i said in general because you may enter into a church and immediately go into a worship.  What bothers me is when I am in a worship and somebody breaks into something like I'm a Soldier... wow that really kills the mood 8O .  (Yall know what I mean, right  )

Could this be because we do not understand the differene between praise and worship?

I've had a few people do that...we could be in a worship song (yes, we still do have testimonial service), then someone will break out with a fast song.  If I'm playing, I'll still keep playing the worship song...

Yeah Im pretty much tired of "im a soldier" anyways...I think its now a time where God is calling for us to be a little more up close and personal with him.  And Im a soldier in the army of the Lord just doesnt get it for me.  I still like to play those types of songs, and still love churchin...BUT leaving a worship song to go into Glory Glory Hallelujah just dont cut it for me no more...lol

And I say Praise and Worship... But it dont matter how you say it as long as you do it.  He inhabits your praise right?

At the church where I am MOM, we normally start actually with slow worshipful songs and then gradually increase our beat each song until we we reach our portion main praise song. Please understand that if God begins to move we let him move.  I had a Bishop once tell me that 'music is a wave that allows the preacher to surf'.  Our service order normally consist of this...  Worship,Praise,Offering,Praise,Worship,Sermon,Worship.  I don't believe that doing it either way is right or wrong it depends on God your Pastor and your MOM.

Hello all to respond to that question I do agree with knowing your atmosphere, but at the same time we have to invite Gods prensence into the builing. How can you worship someone who hasnt enter the buiding yet? Remeber the bible says to enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise. Once again Once you have sent up some praise then god can come in the building then worship the King. Another thing about worship it that we have to understnad worship is about who God is not for what hes done. You praise him for what hes done, and worship him for who he is THE KING OF KINGS. Worship is not always/also a slow song. We tend to think that in order for worship to take plave we have to lift our hands and sing a slow song. That is not so. Slow songs and lifting of the hands are forms of worship. they are not the worship itself. The Bible says that God is a spirit and those that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Worship is personal, you can bombard the presence without praise and thanks. Its between you and God. Remember that God can meet us at the building. In ACTS chapter 2 the spirit didnt just fall  there, they got on one accord then the spirit came in as they prayed, tarried,  and sang. So its my idelology that praise should happened first but its subject to the Holy Ghost.

Give a man chords to a song, you help him for a day. Teach him theory and you help forever!!!

I agree with T-BLOCK. When I facillitate worshop and conferences, I always explain to the Saints that Worship is first, then you seal the blessings with your praise!! Try this for a while and see if it dosen't work for you service.  Bishop Cole

I totally agree with Bugs.

But to just add opinion I would say Praise & Worship because of the simple fact that the outer court comes before the inner court. That doesnt mean that you shouldnt start off with a worship song, if thats how the Holy Spirit is leading.

Praise deals with the flesh, while worship deals with the spirit. In the Tabernacle of David, the Israelites praised God with their dancing and singing in the outer court. But in the inner court only the High Priest could go, and God drew him behind the veil by His spirit.

We praise God to invite Him--He inhabits the praise of His people.
We worship Him because of WHO He is. It is an intimate expression of love.

But to annihilate the confusion at my church We call it TEMPLE WORSHIP.  :D ;D

I think it is Praise and Worship. Because you want to usher in the precence of the Lord and His Annointing. In some instances you must give God praise so that you can begin to worship The Bible says make a joyful noise unto the Lord all yea saints.....!
In my church we pray and try to set the atmosphere for praise and worship and go in singing praises unto the Lord and thanking him for all he has done and; we as the praise team are so show those who do not know how to worship! By those few showing saints how to  surrender our all and  usher in the spirit of God
