I just really took a look at this song..... it is made up of familiar progressions:

I I7 IV
Db / Db F Ab....Someone
F/ F Ab Db.....asked a
Gb / Db Gb Bb....question

Same progressions as the beginning to
I Surrendar All and
Near the Cross

The ending to the verse is the familiar 7 3 6 2 5 1
C / Bb Eb G.......lift our
F Eb / ????.........hands to
Bb / Ab Bb Db.......Jesus
Eb / Gb Bb Db..........what do we
Ab / Gb Bb Db.........really
Db / F Ab Db..........mean

Its all about the progression.

Okay, how about the rest of the song? It seems to modulate when it gets to that second part . . . "We sing because we're happy, we sing because we're free"

I don't want to sound greedy or nufin' but . . . can we post the rest? I would appreciate it, my brothers . . .  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Be Blessed . . .   :D

Chords to why we sing
« Reply #6 on: March 15, 2005, 01:04:09 AM »
I'm learning this song for my choir.  Here's what I got. This song is pretty easy, it evolves around the circle of fifths. Here we go.

Key Db then modulates to Eb

Db/ F-Ab-Db
F/ F-Ab-Db
Gb/Gb-Bb-Db
G/G-Bb-Eb
Ab/Eb-Ab-C
C/Bb-Db-Gb
F/F-Ab-Eb
Bb/Ab-Bb-Db
 passing chords()
(F-Db)
(Eb-C)
(C-Ab)
EB/Gb-Bb-Db
Ab/Gb-Bb-Db
Db/F-Ab-Db
(B/Ab-Db-F)
(C/Ab-Eb)
REPEAT AGAIN
CHORUS
AB/Gb-Bb-B-Eb
DB/F-Bb-B-Eb
Gb/Gb-Ab-Bb-AB
C/Bb-Db-Eb-Gb
F/A-Db-Eb-Ab
Bb/Ab-C-Db-F
G/Db-Eb-Gb
C/A-Db-Eb-Gb
F/Ab-C-Db-F
(F-Db)
(Eb-C)
(C-Ab)
Eb/Gb-Bb-Db
Ab/Gb-Bb-Db
Db/F-Ab-Db
F/A-Db-Eb-Ab
Bb/A-Db-Eb-Gb
F/Ab-C-Db-F
D/G-C-Db-F
Eb/Gb-Bb-B-Eb
Eb/Gb-Bb-Db
Ab/Gb-Bb-Db
Db/F-Ab-Db

THEN IT MODULATES

I'LL TO GIVE YOU THE REST LATER, REMIND ME
I'M NEW TO THIS, TELL ME HOW U LIKE IT
