T-Erica,

God looks at the Heart and not what we put on. As long as you do the work that he has commanded you to do, I would dress comfortably. Also, Pray about this and I am sure God will answer. I don't want to tell you the wrong thing my Sister. :D
I can do all things through christ. :)

If that is what your pastor says, then you have to follow his directions cuz that is his church.  But if some regular woman in the church says that you shouldn't wear pants, then it is not up to her.  Back in the old days, the women weren't allowed to wear pants in church, only them long dresses that go below your knees to your ankles.  I say consult God and your pastor (God most importantly)  to see what is appropriate for you to wear.  I personally feel you should be free to wear what is comfortable to you, but that is my personal opinion.

I think it is in how you wear your pants. If they are tight just like a skirt too now but if they are tight and not right for a church then you don't need to put them on, if they are too big and bagging fitting like a man then you don't need to put them on but if they are nice fitting and things you can wear them. people need to get off the pants issue.... my pastor does not to much care for woman in pants but i wear pants (not to church) but i respect my pastor and things and i don't wear them to church service on Sunday. I think you need to just pray about it and let the HOLY SPIRIT not your spirit lead you and guide you in what to do... it is not what we think but what God has constructed you to do. if you pastor does not like it then respect his wishes remember obedience is better than sacrifice.

Hello and welcome to LGM!

Someone has responded, if your Pastor mandates women wearing dresses, then follow the guideline. I agree with that.

As far as the idea of women not wearing pants, it is a "tradition". Usually, when I speak, I wear a conservative dress skirt-suit. I don't won't to be guilty of distracting anyone's attention. I'm comfortable, and I try to make sure no one's focus would be on my attire. When you minister, it is never about you, and doing things that is comfortable for you. It is about meeting the needs of others. Remember the Parable of the Good Samaritan, went out of his way to minister to someone in need, but when he brought the injured man to the hotel, he placed the man on his (the Samaritan's) donkey. That means the Samaritan, who had a ride, now was walking. The Samaritan sacrificed his "comfort" in order to reach out to someone else.

For me, I want to reach people where they are (possibly in tradition) and help bring them to where they need to be. That's why in certain settings, I only wear dresses. Once again, it's not about me, it's about reaching others and changing lives of the lost and those who are tied to strongholds (such as traditions).

Sometimes as ministers, you will have to sacrifice your comfort to meet needs. That older saint, and maybe others in your congregation, has years of tradition built up inside of them. It may take some time to tear down those walls.

Now, I have, however,  preached in pants at events where I was told that most people would be in jeans, tee-shirts, etc. So, my advice to you is to evaluate where you are,  that is your physical surrondings and the spiritual climate of those you are ministering to.....and pray to God for direction. Every church can't handle us women wearing pants.

Amen Sister T said exactly what I was going to post.
As a minister, I may wear pants on a Wednesday Bible Study.  Usually it is a pant suit, I don't wear jeans to church.  As a Minister though, I realize too that we never know when God is going to call on us to come before the people, so I try to avail myself, including my dress code, just in case.
Also as stated already, Be obedient to what your Pastor is requesting.

I have absolutley no problem with women wearing skirts to church. I am a young man and I believe in the come as you are policy.  BUT, clothes can say a lot. You can associate almost every profession with some type of uniform.

Sisters,  When it's about God's busness you must be about his busness.  Yes times have changed, but as saints do we ?   This is not a New thing, we are saved by God's grace just like in the days of Old,  What Happened ?

Remember there people watching us as well as God.  We are a temple of God.  Would Jesus do some of the things we do Today ?  We will be judged for are actions before God.

Ask yourself this, How much do you Love the Lord ?  As a Minister you must set an example.  So be careful what you do, wear, and act because God IS WATCHING. Be led by the Spirit of God in what to do because God Love You.
