I am working on a kit for another church and I would like to offer them the May Internal Microphone system. What do you all think about the May Mics?
I like them.

I've only heard the may internal mic system once and that was on the lastest dvd from debra killings in which my boy, the human mpc tommy knight was using them on a yamaha recording custom set.  I personlly was not all that impressed with the sound of the drums with these mics and would probably lean more towards somthing top of line from sure or samson, again this was a dvd, i didn't hear them live, but if they give your kit a tight sound, then hey, bust em out.

Yeah, I just remembered that may's are a branch of shure mic's.  Oh, well, if you have the luxury of this, aka dolla bills, get you pair of both and just see which ones you like the best, im sure you can't go wrong either way, im sure the church your wouking with would be set with may's or anyother highend shure or samson model.

Maybe not a lot of people know about May. Randall May developed an internal mounting bracket that attaches to the screws inside a drum. So May's invention is the bracket not the mic, and the microphone companie's do not offer the May mounting system. Randy May gets the AKG, Shure, Audio-Techinca, Sennheiser mics and modifies them to fit comfortably inside the drum.

Ok, judging from what i've heard, mic's on the outside of drums excluding, the kick give an overall better sound than the may internal system, but hey thats my opinion, do with it what you will.

you also may wanna check out the Yamaha SKRM-100 "The Subkick", its a new mic for the kick, i think i saw Chris Coleman using it aswell on the New Breed DVD....i haven't actually used it, but it could still be helpful.
