Well, no quite.

My choir, as a whole, has shown a lack of commitment over the last couple of months. This non-commitment has led to mediocre performances and discouragement amongst those that are committed. In addition, it has forced me to not seek singing engagements. From past experience, I know that sub-par commitment will not equate to a longevity of excellence. If anything, it will deteriorate the prestige and honor of being a choir member to current and future prospects. Therefore, with full confidence, I have made the decision to blow up the choir.

That's a vicious circle. Why not get a *quality* engagement and challenge your people to rise to the occasion?
Perhaps that will also give you the chance to keep the most committed - remember how the LORD whittled down Gideon's army...

I agree with Betnich 100%, cause i was thinking the same thing while i was reading. Engagements sometimes inspire the choir to do better, and some people just need something to look forward to.And if your the director, check yourself, make sure theres nothing your doind unconciously that is causing these problems, or talk with your chior to see if there are some underlining problems going on in the church, or the chior. From my experience, chior members dont just become uncommitted, there is allways a reason.
