What do you guys think of jazz organists, like Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Charles Earland?  I know it's a different style than gospel.

im a guitar player.
those guys are great. love jimmy smith, hes a hometown hero for me at least.  its complicated stuff they do im always trying to copy them on guitar. in philly in that time there were tons of organ trios , drums guitar and organ. i wish there were some still around .

I'm a organ and bassist, but I really like all three of those organist, but I also really like Shirley Scott,who is a great pianist and organist from the 50's-80's. Also check out Billy Preston's cd on vee jay records. It's more gospel tune on there but you can tell that he also diggs jazz organist.
