Now that we've tackled the keys C, C#/Db, D, Eb, E, F, and G, it's time for the next key, Ab.  Here it is:

Here are some tips for playing in this key:

1.  Major scale - There are 4 black notes and 3 white notes in the major scale of this key.  It is very easy to play wrong notes if you are not paying attention.  The first note most of you will forget about is the Db.  I guarantee someone is going to play D natural the first few times.  It's o.k., it happens to everybody.

2.  Chording - Since there are an uneven distribution of white and black notes, almost every chord you play in this key will contain at least 1 black and 1 white note.  So, if you come across a chord that is all black or white notes, it probably means u have played a chord incorrectly. There are exceptions, but that's the general rule.

3.  Runs - Runs are a little easier to pull off in this key than others because for some reason the notes fit into your hands easier. You will still have to start slow to learn the notes, but after a little practice, you can do runs in lightning speed in this key.

m1-b7-b6-b7 (key is Ab minor, Cb/B major)

Those are a few progressions I like to use during those quiet times.  I love experimenting and making new stuff.  I got pages and pages full of stuff I just make up during practice or during church.  If u need help with tempo or whatever for these, I can add if u want.

Yup, other keys are Eb, Gb, and F.  Bb and C are not bad either.
