THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG WAY TO USE THEM IF YOU CHOOSE TO WORK THEM AS  YOUR MELODY (LEFT HAND) OFF A BASS-LINE (RIGHT-HAND) OR WORK THEM OFF OF CHORDS IT DEPENDS ON YOUR FLAVOR & MUSIC. IT' BUILT OFF YOUR 3RD & DOM 7TH'S FOR INSTANCE Eb -  you bounce  back & forth off Tri's/Chords when doing congregational
G-Db / Eb-G-Bb
F#C / Eb-Ab-C
also ending it E-Bb ,Eb-A,D-Ab,Db-G
SO WHATEVER CHORD YOU USE SHOULD REVOLVE AROUND THE 3RD & 7TH(DOM)    IN ORDER TO CARRY THE SOUND YOUR LOOKING FOR. ;)
IF, IT AIN'T IN THE WORD, IT'S NOT OF GOD!

Tritones are very important, especially if you have a bass player in your band. Your can utilize your left hand with tritones and continue to play chords or scale runs with your right hand.

C bass goes with E + Bb
Db bass goes with F + B
D bass goes with Gb + C
Eb bass goes with G + Db
E bass goes with Ab + D
F bass goes with A + Eb
Gb bass goes with Bb + E
G bass goes with B + F
Ab bass goes with C + Gb
A bass goes with Db + G
Bb bass goes with D + Ab
B bass goes with Eb + A
C bass goes with E + Bb
Db bass goes with F + B

RULE #1: Tritones are symmetric.

That means that E+Bb can also be played as Bb+E.

… or Gb + C can be played as C + Gb.

RULE #2: Since there are really only 6 unique tritones, each tritone
shares TWO bass notes.

For example, E+Bb / or Bb + E is used both with a “C” or “Gb” bass.

… or D + Ab / or Ab + D is used both with a “Bb” or “E” bass.

ddw4e is right but the tritones come from dominant 7 chord for example C7 is spelled out C,E,G,Bb the tritone distance is six half steps apart. Diminished chords has tritones in them also C diminished spelled out is C,E,Gb all the tritone is part of a chord that has that interval

As far as application, I like to use them as passing tones in different progressions. they also work great when you walk them up or down in whole steps.

A very popular way to use tritones is to use them  in a "bluesy" way

ex.  My praise is my weapon in Ab ( the first part of the song )

Gb C (F) / Bb Eb Ab  ------   Gb and C are the tritones of Ab; F is optional

You can also hold this chord in the left hand and play either a Ab blues or Ab minor penatonic scale in your right hand

There is no right or wrong chord....You can voice them over major, minor, suspended, diminished chords....etc.....also a lot of jazz chords, maj 9, maj 13 etc... ;)
The organ doesn't have a transpose button, learn it in every key!!!!!

I disagree. There are some chords that fit better than others depending on the tonality of the piece one is playing.

I'm trying to learn about tritones.  If you can "dumb" it down a bit more, do you primarily use them in the scale/run format or as chords that stand alone?
