« on: February 26, 2008, 07:11:19 PM »
If someone can please get me started on this song, i can figure out the rest, since the working part is simpler. But can you please help me with this song called Surely.

Surely (surely)
Surely (surely)
Surely (surely)
Surely (surely)
He's able (he's able)
To carry (to carry)
able to carry you through

As pilgrims we (we sometimes journey)
And we often know not (which way to turn)
But there is one who knows (who knows the road)
And he'll help us carry our (our heavy load)
Don't you know that he's able (he's able)
I tried him for myself (he's able)
I know that the Lord is (he's able)
He's able (he's able)
Dark clouds (they travel)
All round you (around you)
So dark (so dark and sable)
oooooh

(surely he's able yes my God is able I tell you he's able to carry you through)

I can't find the original artist for that version of the song. I do know that its rather old and came out I'd say late 80's to mid 90's.  Kurt Carr also did a version as well, but its different.

 (kurt carr's version)

Chorus:
Surely, surely, surely, surely,
He's able to carry you through.

Surely, surely, surely, surely,
He's able to carry you through.

Verse:
As pilgrims we sometimes journey
and we don't know which way to turn, turn, turn.
But there is One who knows the road,
(He'll help you) carry, carry
(your) heavy load.

Bridge:
Don't you know God is (able)
He's able, He's able;
(clouds may gather) may gather
(all around you) all around you
(so dark) so dark and sable.

(He'll be a mother) mother
(for the motherless) motherless
(father) father
(for the fatherless) fatherless.

(He'll be your joy) joy
(when you're in sorrow) in sorrow,
(be your hope) hope
(for tomorrow) for tomorrow.

(He was Daniel's) Daniel's
(stone a rolling) stone a rolling,
(Ezekiel's) Ezekiel's
(wheels a turning) wheels a turning.

(Moses') Moses'
(bush burning) bush burning,
(Solomon's) Solomon's
(rose of Sharon) rose of Sharon.

(He's my) my
(strong tower) strong tower,
(He's my) my
(bow and arrow) and arrow.

Jesus, Jesus,
Jesus, Jesus,
Jesus, Jesus.

Vamp 1:
Surely, surely.
Surely, surely.

Vamp 2:
He's able, He's able.
He's able, He's able,
oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.

Vamp 3:
He's able.

Ending:
He's able to carry you through.

It was originally recorded by Clara Ward and the Ward Singers back in the late 50's or early 60's.  I think Aretha Franklin also recorded it in the mid-80's.  I think I like the version by Kurt Carr best though.

Yeah,I have heard all of those versions as well.  I learned that the COGIC Interatonal Mass Choir recorded it on its "He'll Bring You Out" cd. According to my father, there were two versions of it, but the COGIC version will do.

That song has been recorded by so many gospel artists over the years but I believe the  original artist I believe is Alex Bradford (I know who ever wrote the song recorded the song, I don't have that info in front of me at the moment though, but I'll look).

Like I said, I have heard so many versions, but the one I am looking for came out in the early 90's. Kurt Carr's version was modeled on this version of the song. COGIC International Mass Choir came out with a version at the same time this one came out.
