Not sure what you mean here.  Are you saying that a C7 chord over Bb, but if that's what you're saying how can it be a C7 because you need all 4 notes that make it?

If I played it like this; Bb / C-E-G, then I'd call it a C/Bb (meaning a C maj chord over a Bb bass). Yes, it is a C7 chord, but I think most folks would call it a 'slash chord' (that's another animal, don't go worrying about it, right now ;) )

Chew on this information (real good, as my mother used to say), then let us know what you've got by posting a small example in whatever key (other than 'C') ;)

I wouldn't call "Bb / G-C-E" a C7 chord, unless the Bb was directly below the C, if it was lower than that, the Bb, like you said, would dominate and you'd end up with more of a Bb 6/9 (Bb-G-C-F) type sound, but since there is no F or D, instead of the E it wouldn't be called a "6/9" just "C/Bb" (which is what I think you meant to type).

Yeah, you're right.  But, I still call it a C7 just cause I can do that.

:D

The point is, all the notes for a C7 chord are present:  C-E-G-Bb,  Bb / G-C-E

You see it?  I break rules a lot, so sorry for the confusion.

I didn't want to post on CHORD CHART post, because it makes it easier for printing without all the extra post.  But on that page could I put the slash (\) anywhere to make your post (2) handed or should I just use what's there and just add left hand bass note(S).  SJ, I plan to reprint this post and study as you suggested, almost like a cow's cudd (chew it and reuse it until it within me), hopefully that's not to nasty sounding.

Actually, while a nasty visual, it's actually quite accurate. Good show, ol' chap. :D

You can do whatever you want with it.  I'm just giving you the notes and scale degrees you need for each chord.  How you play them is up to you.

To the Professor T-Block
I am not understanding something.  I had the privilidge of watching a very awesome COGIC player come by my church.  HIS SOUND WAS FULL HE WAS VERY AUTHORITATIVE ON THE ORGAN AND TOOK CONTROL OF THE SERVICE.  At times he was not playing COGIC but he was still able to keep up and carry the service.  Much better than  I can because I am not very fluent in my playing.  But afterwards he was showing me some things and I noticed that he was playing distorted chords.  I don't know but in the scale of Ab F# is not in there.  But it seems that he was playing that F# chord in his right hand and Ab in his left.  Before I was taking lessons and the teacher was showing me this.  It opened up my smoothness and fluidity in playing by leeps and bounds but I could get nothing that I could base this method on.  Can you give me some help in this area and if anybody can offer help please post.  Be gentle people I am very green in this area so help me.  Thanks in advance my brothers and sisters.

Hey Bossman!
If I understand your post correctly, the chord you're talking about is an "Ab11" chord or a variation of it.
Like you, when I first learned it, I was excited! I started to use it an other songs that I played.

This is one of the ways that I use an "11th" or "13th" chord ...
I use it to get me to the "4th" chord like this:
 (Key of Ab)
Ab11 (Ab-Eb/ Gb-Bb-Db)
Ab7  (Ab-Gb/ Ab-C-Eb)
Db    (Db-Ab/ Db-F-Ab)  4th of Ab

I hope this helps you.   God bless you,   BroAllan
