Hey meremere!  We've all had to start someplace.  If there's someone you
know who plays keyboard, see if he or she can at least start out by teaching
you the basics.  Here's what I would suggest ...  1) Learn the 12 names of the
notes on the keyboard including all sharps and flats, the black notes have 2 names.  For example, a "C#" note is the same note as a "Db".  This is one of
the things that will help you immensely.  Once you KNOW the notes, then you
are ready to move on to the next area which is:

   2) Learn the 12 major chords.  Each note that you can identify on the keyboard has a corresponding Major Chord.  Learn these chords as they are
the building blocks of the music that we play.  By the way, the Learning Center offers a ton of information, and this website is full of people who are
willing to share their knowledge and expertise with others...

  3)  As you progress, learn the 12 keys and their corresponding scales.  This is where the time invested in practice will pay off ...

  4)  Start off by playing simple songs with a few chords, something that
is not too difficult.  As you develop your skills, try songs that have new
chords in them.  Keep working at it and down the line, you will see the results of your efforts.

  5)  Listen to music on CD that you would like to learn.  Try and figure out the chords and progressions that they are using... Develop your ability
to hear the music and to play it as well ...

  6)  Most of all, ask the Lord to help you to learn to play so you can glorify Him through songs of praise and worship, and to minister through music ...

I know this is a lot to share, but I wanted to help take you from where you are now, to where you can be ....   God bless you, BroAllan
