What's a good trash stack combination????
« on: January 20, 2006, 10:38:37 PM »
I was looking at the Mike Portnoy Max Stax but those seem to be a little pricey.  So are there any possible affordable suggestions of how to get that quick, loud trash sound.

What about Wuhan? I bought a 12” china ($12) and I was very surprised.  Also check Ebay. At times you’ll luck up and find very good deals on cymbals and everything else you might need. (naw.. I ain’t tryin ta plug Ebay r nuttin on LGM) But I did find a 12” K splash for about $27. A Custom 10“ splash $27-$29?????(which got banged up at a shed, it’s no longer with us now. :(   And 14 K/Z hi hats for $30 but I don’t really use them much.
But you get my point. Hope that helps ya out a lil Peace 8)

well, aaron spears for his new tour with the gideon band is using a 16" zildjian trash crash with a 10" a. custom splash stcked on it for a tight trash sound. i have also heard a 10" splash stacked on a 12" or a 8" on a 10". shoot, you could even stack a 6" on an 8" for a VERY qucik trash sound.....experiment and i hope i helped... :D

I sometimes use my 14" AA min Chinese as a bottom hat with my 12" Evelyn Glennie Garbage splash (which is a hand-hammered nickle bronze) as a top hat as a trash hat set.

As a stack I use 14" AA Min Chinese up side down and stack either the 12" Evelyn Glennie upside down or an 8" B8 splash upside down in it. Great sound.... short explosion.

Stackwise i have an old 15" mellow crash out of paiste signature line on the bottom with an old beat up 12 aax splash and that combination sounds lovely. I also have a 10" paiste 502 splash on bottom with a old 10" b8 pro splash and it sounds lovely. Just to give a few suggestions if you are not trying to spend a lot of money on stack sets. peace 8)

I use a 12" oriental with a 6" a custom for a really quick and sharp crashy sound.
