I am trying so hard to get my money together and get one. Anyway, try the Piano Mode patch. If you like real piano and electric/rhodes sounds you will find them all there. Also, you can control certain effects with the wheel in this setting like the top opening on acoustic pianos or tremolo speeds on a Wurlitzer/ Rhodes. I want the X6 for the Sequencer. You can do ALOT!! You can even play into the board live!!!(I think that's what I heard) Plus, you can mix/master on the board once you're through. Just take a few weeks and goi through everything, go to the Roland USA website if you have to. Enjoy that board!

I got the Roland Fantom X8, and I have had it for about 8 months now.  I love this keyboard!  I have so many patches I love.  In the electric piano mode patch, I like the E.P. Belle, E. P. 2, and E. P. 1.  In the piano mode, Piano3w, and JD-800.  These are just a few I frequently use.  Although I really love this keyboard, I am not really to impress with its' organ patches.  The patches in a Korg keyboard sounds much better to me.

I have the Fantom-s, which is more or less the same thing. I'm not impressed either with the organ patches. However I found out that running my Hammond M3 through the VK Rotary effect on my keyboard gives a great Leslie effect.

BTW I suggest you check out this site:
