A old lady was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church for 45 years.
She saw 3 pastors come and go.
Well she became afflicted with cancer and was hospitalized.
One day the doctor camee into her room and said
"Ms. Rayford you only have one hour to live"
Mother Rayford look at the doctor and because she was very weak from being sick said , "call my pastor, and the chairman of the deacon board at my church"
The doctor called them both and gave them the news concerning Mother Rayford.
Hearing the news they both rushed to the hospital, and ran into Mother Rayfords room.
The pastor said " Mother we just heard the news and got here as quick as we could".
The deacon who was accustumed to praying said "WE gonna pray"
Mother Rayford said " NO dont you pray"
They both looked astonished.
Mother Rayford then said " One of you get on my left side, and the other get on my right"
They did exactly what she said.
Then she said " help me out the bed"
They did this also.....the deacon screamed out " Glory Hallelujah such a fine Godly woman , she wants us to stand up and pray for her"
Mother Rayford said agian " NO DONT PRAY , help me into the middle of the room"
They slowly walked her into the mioddle of the room .
Both the pastor and the deacon saying thank you Jesus, Glory to God my, my, my yeah lord
The deacon said." WE GONNA PRAY FOR YOU"
Mother Rayford said " NO DONT PRAY"
they stood there in the middle of the room puzzled
Finally the pastor spoke..." Mother we came here at your request and we know you are about to leave us and cross the chilly Jordan river, What is it that you want us to do, what about your insurance policies, and your estate.We want to pray for you that God will hold your hand across the chilly chilly Jordan
Mother Rayford said " For the last time i Dont want you to pray"
"WHY THEY Asked"
Mother Rayford said " The doctor told me I only got an hour to live and i wanted to be like Jesus and DIE between two thieves"
