I've been practicing the chromatic scale. (Joe Sample uses a lot of chromatics, so I need to get them down.) Here's how the fingering works out:
Right hand:
1. On all the black keys, use the third (middle) finger.
2. On F and C, use the second finger.
3. On all the other white keys, use the thumb.
Left hand:
1. On all the black keys, use the third (middle) finger.
2. On B and E, use the second finger.
3. On all the other white keys, use the thumb.
So, if you start on C, the fingering would look like this: (going up)
