How do I do this?
« on: April 30, 2005, 08:50:29 PM »
Okay, here's the scene:
We have a bass player, drummer, organist, lead guitar, and me on the piano. Someone stands up to testify and starts to sing a song that doesn't have a definite tempo. The bass player, drummer, and lead guitar obviously can't play with her, so, its up to me and the oranist to back her up. The organist was holdin' it down and doin' his thing, but, how do I add the harminization in with the piano? I mean, I've heard some crazy stuff done, but, how do you do it? It would be very helpful if you had a video or something like that of what to do on a piano that you could show me or tell me where to buy one.

Thanks, be blessed!

HMMMMMMMMM......

Hello, I've just read your post and to be honest, it's really up to you to try out things while playing with the organist......I would say that you can run a scale while the organist is "gettin' down." You can do a "call and response" sort of thing when playin' with everyone at church I've done this many times and it works...Also, since the organ is amplified, you can pretty much do anything as long as you stay in the same key and keep it suddle......I posted a clip that you can listen to for an example. Take a listen to the one titled "A song for grandma(organ&rhodes). there are two versions of this song one with the organ and one without.....take a listent to the one with organ...You can see that I'm playing both Rhodes and Organ and they are not over powering each other.....I hope this is helpful...........GOD BLESS!!!
