Get rid of my boring chords
« on: March 03, 2015, 10:52:23 AM »
Thank you for your time.

At my church (I play Keyboard), we do songs like "Can't Nobody", "After While", "Praise Him", etc and so on.

They all have the same beat and chord structure.  1,4,5,6, and sometimes 2.

I can play these songs with no problem, but I play really boring chords (in my opinion). I'll either play the root position 1-3-5 chord or maybe first inversion or 2nd inversion.  But I really feel like there's more I can do.  I've watch and watched and watched YouTube video's but I can't really find what I'm looking for.

I'm looking for chords that I can play over some of these 1,4,5,6,2 chords that will make my sound fuller and richer. Especially at the beginning or end of the song, where the song leader likes to start slow talk the verse out before the band fully comes in.

I'm not asking you to tell me everything you know.  And I'm willing to do my homework and put some work in.   I'm just asking for a pattern to follow that I can learn and use in every key.

Thank you again for your help.
