Young Aspiring Worship Leader
« on: January 14, 2014, 03:21:14 PM »
Hi everybody, I'm very new to this forum.

I'm 16 years old and I have been a part of my praise team for 5 years now, mostly playing electric guitar and drums. I recently bought an acoustic guitar, and my church doesn't have a youth praise band so I've been thinking about leading with a few other youth from my church. I am comfortable enough to lead and play guitar, but the problem I have, is that I don't sing.

I can cue the congregation to stand and all of that jazz, but if I'm leading I guess you kind of have to sing... So I just need some tips from fellow leaders from other churches, or maybe someone with some input they'd like to share.

Thanks in advanced.

Yeah, but I will be singing... Just I'm not that good haha. Hopefully the sound guys won't make the congregation ears bleed.

Would it be okay if I just backed away from the mic? I think that's what I'd do. I'm being honest with you, I don't have a good voice so please don't try to say I do.

Also, would it be good if maybe my actual worship pastor was there with me? Like co-leading kid of thing?

Thanks.
