Aw man, Im looking at getting the MO8 :-( I figured that'll be my last board I need to buy, because it has pretty much everything you need. Whats some of the cons you have?

On the original motifs and S90's yea of course! But, with the S90ES, I'll have 4 sounds saved in a perf patch, then delete one depending on the song, and roll with 3... With the XS polyphony is not an issue LOL!

I have an old MOTIF 8 it has everything fully restored so though it is old it is virtually new. I got it for a very low price and so I graduated to this. I don't know how to use everything yet but I just explore. I use a lot of the Keyboard & piano voicings. I think if I want to play keyboard bass it can be useful for that as well. It is also has pretty good horns if you are keyboard #2. Looks like you have the newer most recent version of this keyboard so your options are pretty vast. Great keyboards like the Cadillac of boards in my book. Fantom is like the Bentley in my opinion! Casio like the Kia of boards. LOL!

I own a Roland Fantom X8. It's pretty heavy, but I love it. My 2nd keyboard is a Yamaha YPG-535, which is slowly going out... so I may be in the market for a newer replacement for it. I got my eyes on the new Yamaha MO X8 and the MM8

I have a YPG-625 currently and the screen is messed up so I cant see what I need to do as far as recording, so I am definetly looking to get a Motif as well

My personal board is a Roland GW-8 workstation. My church set up in a Yamaha Digital piano with a Yahmaha MM6 on top. I have my own sound board as well as running through the HOUSE lightly. LOVE IT!!

My church has the MOX8 its a lot lighter. The sound are cool and its a audio interface. I do like the MO8 better for performance. I can do more with it.

MAN!! I'm really not likin' the MO-8 anymore!

It's heavy and too bulky to carry evry Sunday! LOL

I'm lookin for a good board with BRASS and Synths... and the MO-8 is not known for either! I don't know what to do, either get another Keyboard (Or module), or find a way to download new sounds for this thing. Any ideas?

...but a part of me really wants to save up for the Korg M3 or Kronos

How much do you want to spend;and is it just a travel board?

Korg has the PS 60,about $600,lite,probably the easiest one to mix varied sounds but CHEESE keys!

The M 50;nice sounds,lite,has drum loops;CHEESE keys.

Depending on if you sell your MO;you could get an XS 6 or 7 for probably under 2 k.

If you leave your MO @ church,you could get the M3 rack-just move the rack back +forth,use a cheap controller @ home for practice.

I'm NOT liking the Kronos;basically KORG's top end board using the CX3 organ sound.Really? I've had my CX 3 since 2001-nice board -but I gotta question this.I played the 61 note @ GC and quality wise;think I'll pass.

Maybe look @ Kurzweil's PC line-a friend talks pretty higly

I'm with ya Apex-just personal preference.My 1 st 2 boards after my B3 were a DSS and M1(korg).

Was playing a kronos 88 @ GC yesterday-can't see the good for all the upfront stuff that would get in my way.Pianos' good,but not 3 k-for a non-legit pianist(me).

Isn't Korg praised for this?? You can even go for a 2nd hand give-away to sample the sounds $:-\$ Look at other options besides the Kronos alone. It also seems to be too bulky. But if you play anything like Apex, then you might as well go for the Kronos

Kurz also has some nice sounds in this arena..so you have a few options..

Until I got my XS-Korg pretty much nailed Brass.On my old M1,circa 1990,the brass card had patches that killed for covers of "Chicago,BST,tenor sax,Blue Note(alto + trumpet)."

Alesis ,in their QS seris board and rack had some nice brass also.I had a QS 6+7.1 and an extra expansion card "latin brass" that when layered fooled some folks!You might find one of those cheap-$1-300.A friend still has my brass card(I hope)-think I paid $125 new.

For a travel board-lite,but sturdy.

The Korg PS I mentioned is one of the best ideas out there;good sounds-EASY mixing/splitting from the panel and decent sound.Cheap build quality on the keys.Most of the ones I've seen @ Sam Ash and GC jammed/stuck keys.They are abused-but so are road boards.

I just watched some demo videos of the Korg PS-60. I like the lightweight(ness?) of it and the sounds. I just wasn't ready to go 61 key :/ but i must think outside the box and now worry about staying in my comfort zone! lol

I'm Still Pro Kronos, Apex!

I mean the SSD hard drives really make all the difference. The fact that I can strick a key and hear the full sound of the piano ring for about 30secs like an actual piano is amazing! You can switch between sounds without the instant 'cut off' as each sound is independantly running of the hard drives

PT-do you have the MO or the MO X?

The MO X has some cool computer interface;might be an option.

You can layer that PS(thru midi);if you have 2 (or more) midi boards or you can set it up "organ -like".Korg shows that in an ad with their SV and Ps as a nice church rig.

I got the S90-ES & I don't know how to use it.....LOL!!!! I just use the preset voices & I downloaded some voices from Jamal Hartwell. Are there any tutorial sites around that you know of?
