"Stereo" keys rig

Suggestions for a cheap/easy way to take full advantage of the fact that most modern keys have a lt+rt output?Our soundguy Always wants to argue that

since the mix is mono,there's no need to pan the keys hard rt/lt(from the submix).Forget that the keys manual suggests this ;the piano sounds  come out

thin at the top and bottom despite his "expertise" at the EQ.

Hartke makes some small amps;that playing a Motif thru really sounds good.The one with the 10 or 12" spkr is affordable enough to get 2 instead of one big backbreaker.The low end with drums/arps,piano,synth/organ at fair volume really impressed me.Since I want to get a new amp this year,how do I get that "headphones sound" live?Plus,another advantage is to be away from the soundguy fiddlin' with my mix.All he could do is mess with the FOH sound.

when you say cheap.... what kind of budget are you working with?  I have a few suggestions.

That's something I'm considering also 13.Suggestions?I'm assuming you mean powered studios,and I've wondered about spkr/size/power etc.,to get a great sound and not blow a cone cranking the drums/arps/lows on my XS and Korg CX3.

In looking at studio monitors,at the $800 price point of the Hartke (pair) it's a toss up.Open to suggestions y'all

studio monitors are not suggested for live use..Try the stagepa300 or 500

the only way I'd suggest studio monitors PERIOD in a live setting (next to never), is if the environment it VERY controlled.  they aren't really meant for that...  I mean unless you are gonna have them sitting right behind your head feeding you the monitor levels that you need

I have 2 M-Audio monitor speakers and 350 kc Roland amp and I get good stereo sound, I'm not out there in live bands, but this gets the job done for me. A nice clean hard sound and i can carry my monitors and I put wheels that roll on the bottom of my roland amp. So no back hurts for me.  :)
