What's arbitrary are stereotypes, period. They aren't statistics. They're suppositions at best.

The point I'm trying to make is I don't believe stereotyping and supposition are even remotely similar.

In which is actually an argument against stereotypes. If life is like a box of chocolates and you never know what you're going to get, how do you know a person who looks like they could fulfill a stereotype will fulfill a stereotype? It makes stereotyping a waste of time.
Right. And, it isn't until one actually opens the box until they can truly say they "know" a person and actually fit into preconceived stereotypes.
