Do you have friends in your area that you hang out with to exchange musical ideas?

No I don't, but it's not because I don't want to, in fact if there are any people out there that live in the North Carolina area that want to share musical ideas, chords and progressions let me know.

Nah, not really. Wish I did, though.

I'm currently the most advanced musician in my area, which doesn't say that much. :)

A few. Some are beginners and can't seem to stay focus which annoys me at times. They want to play on a level they are not on.  :) Then the more skilled ones want to play around too much. I actually like more structure and technique based practice. I pretty much tell people I can help you out but I don't really give lessons.  :) I'd rather waste my time than to allow someone else too so I limit their time with me. :D
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

Yeah, my friend Lynn. He is the minister of music in his church, and is teaching me how to play the keyboard.

I also have a friend Jermaine that is helping me with playing bass and the drums. I broke my wrist a few years back, and have just started to get back into playing. Realized how much I sucked before. But he saw my inability, and turned it into a platform to teach from.

I get together with both of them on a regular basis to share ideas, and to collaborate with one another. My assumption was that every musician did this. Now I know my assumtion was incorrect.

Absolutely!

Right now I don't and it's more my fault than anything. I operate under the assumption that many of the skilled musicians are arrogant and not easy to get along with. I'd rather work with musicians that maybe are not as skilled but have a humble attitude. BTJM.  :-\

That's not an assumption in all cases...  ;D

I think, in most cases, it's just that people are pests and just want to use the other person. You may not get much help that way.
