New Audio Track
« on: November 27, 2008, 03:06:45 AM »
Hello LGM,

Below is an audio track of SMV that I recorded drums on top.  I am working on creating a good drum mix in the studio, so any ideas and critiques are welcomed.  Thank you.

Nice track. You played well with the track. I'll listen to it a few more times though. Before we critique anything I think we need to know what you are working with. What mics are you using? Are you using overheads? ...etc. What's your set up?

Thanks for the share. God Bless

I also like the accent displacement! I'm a big fan of that stuff.

Thanks for the compliment The Learner.  I thought of stretching out, but I never want to crowd the music and Stanley, Marcus and Vic are playing some very interesting parts, I just wanted to accompany that.  Be Blessed.

What's up LGM,

I would definitely like your input in regards to the overall track, but specifically the drum track (i.e. panning, eq, highs, mids, lows, tuning)  D-O-D(who has been working on perfecting his drum mix), mentioned 3rd Day as one of the individuals who has an ear for the production side. Sabe(who always has inciteful commentary, DH(who always has a comical reply, BBD(the drummer, not the rap group), Juse, Vicfirth93, Modern Drummer, Sticks, Drumz, Jhaynes, C-Rod (who stays in the studio), among the other musicians on this site.  You may hear something in the mix that I don't.  Your assistance is appreciated.

The track is nice but super boring.  It repeated in my media player and I didnt even realize it.  I was like, when is this song gonna end?  LOL  But it sounds good.  Your mix is all about preference.  Find a recording that you like and try to match it as best as you can.  Experiment with your workstation.  Read the manual and search unknown terminology on the web to get a better understanding about "what does what."  Good job and stay at it.  It gets better with time.

DOD, I appreciate the critique.  Growth occurs when honest criticisms are taken to heart and improved upon.  Again, Thanks.
