This stuff goes on everywhere. I forgot what a blessing it is to NOT be in the know. I think there's so much freedom and peace in not knowing stuff.

You right about that Rue Rue. My mom told me and my sis about a member today at dinner. Needless to say, my sister ready to cut him. Literally!!!

Not knowing is so much better. Once you know you can't unknow it. Heck, I wanna cut him too. :-\

Mme Rue, I was living in blissful ignorance until this guy came to our apartment and gave us the skinny on what was going on in church.

I was stunned at what he was telling us. I feel so heavy. I wish I hadn't heard it. The level of rot is...deep.

I wish you could've heard the sermon delivered this evening.

Church was....amazing today!  It's so hard to explain.  All I can say is everybody felt that thang.  Yeah, I preached, but it wasn't about me at all.  God moved in a big way.

Church was almost amazing, but he didnt preach. Instead someone made a presentation that I personally could have done without.
But I finally got my drummer back, and it looks like he's here to stay.

c.s. left service early today, wifey wasn't feeling well ... (being pregnant and all) now getting the grocery list put together ... also I just finished making egg drop soup for the first time ... need a lot more practice who would've thunk that such a simple soup had so many ways to turn into a mess LOL... finished off lunch with some orange chicken (used one of those frozen dinner thingies where you just put the chicken in the oven and pour the provided sauce)...after typing all of this just got sleepy :) maybe the itis is hitting me LOL

Wait, pregnant??!!!!!!!! Wow, congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

CS: Need to go to sleep but got some things on the brain I've shared with God.

CS: Wondering what Layla would have done if she was at my church this morning when the guest preacher was talking about the dangers of missing church and was like "look at your neighbor and say neighbor I ain't missing church again." LOL! I couldn't do that because honestly I want to take 2 weeks off but I'm going to take the last Sunday off in this month.

No biggie. I just would've smiled gracefully. I've been in that situation a zillion times so I can pass that test with a breeze.

Just a few weeks ago at our convocation, the speaker was having us to turn to our neighbor and say stuff that I didn't agree with. Fortunately, my neighbor didn't agree either, so neither of us moved. And it happened like 10-12 times that one evening.

I'm a pro at this, yo. :D

Been trying to think of a way to respond to this, because I really want to. Not knowing your sister's situation, it's hard to tell without any kind of emoticons or smileys what kind of news this is...

Umm...

Praying for your family, and I hope the baby brings joy to the household! =)

Yeah... I'll go with that... >_> (I'm sincere, too)

I assume that it was born healthy? Girl or boy?

Seriously, you are so cool!

Congrats, PH!  Gotta admit, the pregnant remark went right by me. I've got to stop just skimming posts that are more than a sentence long.

A couple of the single mothers at my church want me to speak to their pre-teen and teenage daughters before school starts.
They want me to talk to them about boys and sex.

Wow.

I really wish they would do it, but their reasoning is a whole nother story.

SO, I'm thinking about hosting a sleepover Friday night. If you all have any advice on how to approach these topics, I will be very grateful. :)

Ages are 12, two 11 yr olds, and a 10 year old.

What can you say in one night that will have a greater impact than how their mothers have raised, and will continue to raise them? :-\

Wait, pregnant??!!!!!!!! Wow, congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

Ouch. I get what you're saying. What do you suggest I do?

I haven't told them I will do it.

I would hate to see them go down the wrong path. If I can help in any way, I would like to

I don't think you need to have a greater impact than their mothers.   I hope you don't put that kind of pressure on yourself.  Any impact will do- even a small one.  It's possible that something you say may strike a cord in just one person.  That one cord at that one moment in time in that one person's life may positively affect the path she takes from that day forward.

If nothing else, you're nothing less than one of the (hopefully) many seed-sowers in their lives.

I will not put that pressure on myself. I understand that their mothers are their 1st teachers. If they feel like they can't do it, someone needs to.

LOL.

It's a girl. They do need much prayer though. I don't think bringing a baby into that mess is a great idea. But whatever. Her life. *shrug*

I have no Idea how to talk about that subject tactfully. lol

Maybe provide statistics showing the effects of children born out of wedlock :-\ and try to debunk the misconceptions that teens often have about having a baby. Misconceptions like the baby will keep a man around, or that it will make up for how the other people in their lives have disappointed them.  Also be sure to show them what the Bible says about parenting. :-\

The thing is, kids that have sex early typically have low self worth for one reason or another.

The best approach, in my opinion, is to address their self worth, not abstinence.

And I agree with LL's seed sowing statement.
