Last day of work was on Friday.  It's an awkward feeling not to be going directly into something else.  I had a very restful day, but I have to immediately begin getting things together for my move which is in two weeks.   I think I am going to journal this transition, it is just so interesting.

SN: I watched a documentary today and four college kids who journeyed to a village in Guatemala to see what it was like to live on $1 a day for 56 days.  It was very enlightening.  Makes me grateful and makes me think about what is important.

Trying to decide if I should make it public, lol.  I suppose I could start a new blog for it, I wouldn't bore you here with that... especially since I get that "unfaithful church member side-eye" these days, lol!

Making a lot of changes with this move, I'm starting a reboot (documentary called "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" put me on to it).  I'm really excited about it!

Mainly, I'm focusing on being a finisher, making it public might be what I need to keep going when it gets tough.  My first "finish" is the 60 day reboot, once I start school that'll be another "finish" goal.  I'll probably have a few others on the way, but it'll be good to focus on this first one instead of getting distracted with too many goals.

Tizzy Teej just finished his last school project.....ever. Graduating in less than two weeks. I can't wrap my head around the idea that I'm done with school. No more all-nighters? No more roommates? No more exams? This is all I know!

Emotional night.  :-\ :'(

I hear you, bruh.  It was that way for me as well.  My other thought/concern was, 'Where am I going to work/live now? :-\  It was rough.

Hi everyone! I'm new here. I've been lurking for a little while. There is so much info here it's a bit overwhelming, but I love it! There are so many people here that have been a great help. Thanks everyone!  ;D

One thing I'm looking for that I haven't really been able to find is rhythms. I am trying to learn every chord in every key going through the circle of fifths, most triads I know. I'm trying to implement 7ths, I understand 9ths, 11th, 13ths, I'm just not advanced enough to use them right now. What I'm looking for is, what to do when you have a song that is a I chord or IV chord for a long time, and what are some simple rhythms that I can play when accompanying singers. Hope that makes sense.

Hello! Welcome to LGM! If you haven't already, I would put this question in the general music hangout thread or whichever thread is the one where theory is discussed. I'll let someone like T-Block who is a little more advanced answer your question. I hope you enjoy your time here on LGM!

I just wish I could fast forward past the pain of losing my husband. The pain is just so deep and inmeasurable. What I wouldn't give to have my husband back by my side. Sunday would have been his 34th birthday. Our wedding anniversary is May 19th which is on a Sunday as well. Lord please help us! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Wow how time flies... I was just visiting your freshman wordpress blog a few weeks ago, lol.  So what are your plans?  Will you live in Birmingham, or relocate?  Man, I'm excited, I'll be keeping up with your progress!

Going to try my hand and see what Android app development is all about.

Just dawned on me that Jim Belushi and John Belushi may have been named after James and John the apostles.
I may need to do that myself. I saw a few android jobs online. I need to become a Microsoft administrator or programmer. Need more job opportunities.

Thanks. In the threads where people are looking for chords, it's been a long time since anyone posted. I've seen the theory discussion mentioned a few times, but I haven't found it yet. Could someone post a link?
I would do the chording myself, but I only know one person that knows the song (my husband) and he's the reason I want to learn to play it. However, I'm having a real hard time finding the melody because .... wel.... he... uh.... sings offkey.  ;) I can only find about half of it. lol

A few years ago I went to a gospel music conference that had an urban music law class with James L. Walker Jr. Esq. Recently he settled an 8-year litigation with Sony where Sony, pretty much, tried to bully artists into dropping Walker or not hiring him because he would get them more money than Sony felt like paying. During the seminar he talked about some labels being in bed with some lawyers (he didn't name names), and the label would have the lawyers convince the artists to sing shotty deals so the lawyers could get a bonus and the label could save millions.

He has a page on his website explaining the situation:
http://walkerandassoc.com/settledeblast/

I though I'd post this for those who are interested in entertainment law as it pertains to urban contemporary and gospel music.

I purchased his book on the music industry a year or so ago. It's mind-boggling to know how everything, even when it comes to Jesus Christ being declared through song, has to be seen in America from the perspective of a business....*sigh*  :-\
