I laughed at how you labeled this one #random, but the previous one was... not?  :D

So today was a busy day and I ended up having a loooooong rehearsal.  Our jurisdictional AIM convention is next week, so we had musician's rehearsal and praise team rehearsal right after that.  God just really blessed.  During the rehearsal I could see my growth, which I couldn't always say.  I was playing with a more experience keyboard player, he's from a sister church and speaks very little english, but he love gospel music and can learn any song you throw at him perfectly in about 24 - 48 hrs.  Dude is a beast.

So anyway, I was on the organ while he was on the keys, and at several points in the session I recognized that I was doing stuff that I couldn't do before, or had great difficulty doing.  On one song, I had modified the key at our local church because it starts in E flat, and I couldn't really play it in E when the song goes up a half step, so I started it in Db and went up a whole step, skipping D because I don't play well in that key, either.  Well, the guy on the keys can change keys like it's nothing so he started in the right key and went up to E and then F.  I fumbled for a sec at E, but broke down what I did in the previous key by numbers (i.e. I play the 1st in 2nd position and then the 4th and then the 5th), I did this all in my head and before they finished the chorus in E I had it down.  When we went to F, the guy on keys, was fumbling for a minute, and I got it down before he did!

I was so stoked!  I praise God for what he's doing because for so long I just felt so stagnant.  Not only that, but this morning when I was preparing, I was able to listen to two of the songs, catch the bass line, and figure out the rest from there!  I'm really praising God, y'all.  He is answering my prayers!

That's awesome Ness. I was taking keyboard lessons. That was always my first instrument, I've been learning off and on since I was in elementary school. And I still can barely play. It wasn't until the last time I was taking lessons that I'm just really not that into it, lol. As much as I would love to be able to play fluently, I'm not willing to sit there and learn at the moment.

But.... good for you! That's great!

Crazy week.  Well what happened with my mother is that she hadnt really been eating the last few days, and on top of that, her glucose medication was too strong.  This is what caused everything to drop.  Shes fine now and home.  They took her off the meds for a while until they can fix her dosage.  Thanks for the prayers and concerns.

My church is off the chain.  Service was AMAZING today.  I may start playing in the ministry this week.  That brings me to this:

Since I began my true walk with God, it seems my position has always been a "Ram in the bush".  I didnt understand the fullness of that for a while, but once I began to travel with the military and live different places it became clear.  Ive never had to "vie" for a position.  I accredit that with following God and putting him FIRST before music, before pay, before anything else.  Anyway, so I came to this church, and I knew this was where I was supposed to be.  And even though tried to start somewhere else for a while, I ended up departing out of obedience.  This church has a THOROUGH process.  You have to be a member and have gone to new members class to be in any ministry (which I did).  I then had to fill out an application and set up an audition with the MD.  I then had a one on one interview with the worship leader and filled out some more paper work, which included 3 references.  They hit my references the NEXT day! lol.  I was actually truly impressed by that.  Now this is the thing.  There are two bass players there already.  Well in last service, in chatting with them, one is about to take a contracting job in Afghanistan for a few yrs.  Then the other states that hes transferring to a new job and wont be available to play.  I couldnt even be surprised.  I was just like, Lord, you know I know wassup LOL.  This has always happened to me no matter where I go. TGBTG

If you just have faith in what YOU'VE been called to do, you will never worry about having a place.  Be obedient.  God knows what Hes doing.
Praise Him!

My first time logging in on a Sunday in a while. Pretty busy!

CS: Sitting here with an heating pad.

Went to Borders and Life Way last night. Borders was packed!!! I went a little crazy with my spending, but I found some great deals.
Almost got into an altercation with an old caucasian fella. I guess he's still not happy we can read now.

OAN: I started reading the book for the book club on Friday during lunch and I finished Friday around midnight. Next time, I'm gonna make myself read a couple of chapters a day. I suprised myself on that one.

I know one girl did "At Last" and another one did a song called "You and I" It was supposed to be wedding songs. I changed the channel after the 3rd singer. I didn't like the fact that they were judging based on them not being comfortable singing secular. One girl did really good, but they said she didn't look comfortable singing secular.

IMO, if they are supposed to be professional singers, then they should be able to sing more than one style of music comfortably.

I get that but still, this is suppose to be a gospel competition and if Mimi got eliminated because of her uncomfortable feeling of singing the song, then shame on that entire show! I'm done with that show for this season! #thatisall

Understood. I see your point. But, their goal is to find the next "Gospel" superstar according to wikipedia. I really can't explain how I feel about that but I thought Sunday Best was supposed to be a gospel competition. If they can sing secular comfortably or not, shouldn't be a factor. But I'm pretty sure TJMO.
