For the most part they are simply slash chords...
C/G = CMaj over G in bass
G/F = GMaj over F or GMaj7
C/E = CMaj over E
Ddim
C/E
Ddim/F = same Ddim chord over F in bass (Fm6 would include the "C")
C/G
I don't often hear or play the first 3 chords this way...I usually would have seen and heard it walk diatonically from A to G (root bass)
Either AMaj7 or Amin7 walkup to Ddim or Dmin
LH/RH
A/C-E-G = Am7
B/B-D-G = G/B
C/C-E-G = CM
Ddim
O.K., cas already gave u the correct names of the chords. Let me just add on to that D / Ab-D-F chord. To me this is chord is missing a note, C. If u were to add in the C, then this chord would be a Dm7(b5) chord which u would hear more often than the Ddim. So, it would look like this:
G / G-C-E
F / G-B-D
E / G-C-E
D / Ab-C-D-F *Dm7 (b5)
E / G-C-E
F / Ab-C-D-F *Dm7 (b5)/F
(repeat)
This progression is found in a whole lot of gospel songs. I call it a 5-4-3-2-3-4 progression. Usually when they use this progression, it is accompanied by some kind of 3-6 in the middle for a little variation. Example:
G / G-C-E
F / G-B-D
E / D-G-Bb *here's ur added 3, this is an Em7(b5)
A / Bb-Db-E-G or A / Db-F-G-C *here's ur added 6, chords are A7 (b9) & A7 #5/#9
D / Ab-C-D-F
E / G-C-E
F / Ab-C-D-F
There's a lot u could do with that, but that's just some quick ideas.
Cas10a--
YES!!!! I really, really, really, really appreciate this... Thank you very much cas10a for giving me the correct names of the chords... you've done a very big favor for me... It was killing me that I didn't know what they were called... I was looking all over this site, but I didn't know the correct words to search for, you've just expanded my knowlege a hundredfold, lol.
T-Block--
Thank you for giving me the name of the progression.... I mean we hear this progression so often (Example:Yolanda Adams-Battle Is The Lord's)... It's good to know that it has a name!!!
And yes the addition of the 3 {Em7(b5)} and the 6 (A7) make it sound SO MUCH better...
I appreciate it T-Block.... You've also unknowingly answered at least 5 other questions that I was going to ask... Thanks Man!!
