Good ending progressions

I've been looking for more innovative ways of ending my songs, other than going from V to the I.

Does anyone have ideas on progressions i can use to end a song. There is this one progression that gospel musicians use a lot, an example is in Kirk Franklin's song (Still In Control). Its like going from II III IV V or something like that. Thanks ya'll.

I don't think so. I think its liek you would play the chords diatonically, i.e the II minor, III minor and so on. I'm just looking for different ways to end a song apart from the IV- V-I.

The other common way to end is to do a Vdom-vi-viidim or vii-I..

I also like the vi-bvi-V-vii-I or V  ..In this case, the bvi / #v is a sub for the ii & the vii is a (can I call it a) passing note that helps you to resolve to a I.

Depending on how fast you play your bass notes, you have plenty of options to play around with, one of them being : vi-bvi-V-vii-bVdim or bv-V-(I)

#VI Maj9-bIII 13-#V 7-V13-I 6/9

You can use the last one to change the key to the key of the #V, which is a half-step up, or even move the #V up a half-step to VI7, and change the key a whole-step.

I've been experimenting with ending songs on 4.  So, here are a few things u could try:

2 / 4 chord  (D / C-F-A)
3 / 5 chord  (E / D-G-B)
4 / 1 chord  (F / E-G-C)

or

2 / 4 chord  (D / C-F-A)
1 / 5 chord  (C / D-G-B)
4 / 1 chord  (F / E-G-C)

or

2 / 4 chord  (D / C-F-A)
1 / 5 chord  (C / D-G-B)
b7 / 4 chord  (Bb / F-A-C)

or

B / A-D-F (7)
E / G#-C-D-G (3)
A / F#-G#-B-C#-E (6)

The "ii9" chord was supposed to be "ii min9". I was sleepy.

It's actually a IV chord taken from the key of B. You can see it clearer in the second progression.

I don't normally end in a 6 unless when I play songs in minor keys..

But what I do normally play is this:

5/4-6-1-3
6/#4-6-1-3
2/#4-6-1-3

or

5/4-(5)-6-7-2
7 or b2/--(pass)
