?What?s good for the goose is good for the gander??
« on: March 21, 2008, 10:02:27 AM »
Look!  As crazy as this guy seem to be to some,
he was invited to the White House.  And he was invited by who?
Isn't this some form of association, less intimate but...still?

Clinton's blanket response:
"President Clinton took tens of thousands of photos during his eight years as president."

Yeah, I saw that this morning...

Although I think the Clinton camp's response was totally lame (especially since only 100 clergypeople were invited to that breakfast), I'm not so sure how I feel about Obama's campaign putting it out, though.  From a political perspective, it struck me as a little desperate.  It would've worked better if he did it less formally.... like, pulling it out of his shirt pocket in the middle of a sentence in a matter-of-factly kinda way.... like, well, I mean, Rev. Wright's a good guy... even President Clinton enjoyed his company and thought highly enough of him to invite him to the WH when he needed the support of a select few clergypeople.... yeah *chuckle* how funny is that?  One of my aides showed this to me a few days ago and I thought it was cool.... all of this nonsense now is just another pitiful ploy to distract voters from the issues that really matter, but it worked out for our good since it opened the floor for us to have meaningful dialogue on the issue of race in America, something that we haven't really explored in depth since this season began...

I also heard about his little slip-up calling his white grandmother a "typical white person" who gets nervous when she (in other words) sees a black person on the street... that could be damaging to him.

But, for the record, as you know, context is everything.  It wasn't AS BAD as it sounds, but it was still a bad choice of words on his part.  :-\  I know he's hating life today, and I know his press manager is hating HIM today...  :D :D :D

Okay, here you go:  http://youtube.com/watch?v=r8gnmUyminI

I understand what he's saying.  But that's just more wood for the fire that's burning against him.  It's like when Jesse Jackson mentioned that he felt uneasy when walking in DC and a black male walks behind him.  I can understand that, too.  But you can't say that to a reporter.

Yea, you're right, you CAIN'T say the TRUTH to a reporter.  ::) :-\

Yeah, but not because it's the truth, and not because he's a reporter.

You can't say something like that (however truthful it might be) because you will not be able to justify those feelings to certain groups who find those sorts of comments to be racist or divisive or hypocritical or stereotypical, etc...  :-\

I totally agree.... now I could say that to a reporter, but a presidential candidate sure as heck can't... LOL

It was a really unfortunate choice of words because most of us know what he meant (shucks, even his haters know what he meant), but we can't force the other side to understand.  And now, he's in a position where he can't put too much time into clarifying what he meant because he'll just look worse.  :-\

This race is getting tighter and tighter every day. I sure hope Pennsylvania holds a few surprises.  I'm hoping for at least a 52-48.... :-\

I dont see anything wrong with what he said... It was the truth... So what if they gonna take it and twist it around... They twist everything else round... They did it to Jesus.....

I didn't say I didn't understand why, I merely suggested it is what it is. If anything bothered me in his interview with LK, it's the fact that he 'conveniently' left his father out. :-\

Truthfully, I wish Obama would just repeat snippets from his FANTASTIC speech on Tuesday and leave it at that.

After awhile, folks would tire of receiving the same answer over and over again. Why? Because the public would get tired of hearing the same answer.  :D

It was a bit curious that he left his father out, but honestly Jonathan, his father really had so little to do with his life.  He barely knew the guy, so there really isn't much he can say about him.  :-\

But uhhh... that last paragraph.... you hit the nail on the head.  (Of course, then they would just accuse him of spewing rhetoric.... lol).  No matter what he does or says, they're gonna pick it apart.  That's just the kind of campaign they're running. *SMH*

True; and I think those that are "on the fence" about choosing a candidate AND possess basic political sense will see that and choose wisely. ;) 8)

Priceless.

Now this looks like a Republican conspiracy.  But I bet Hillary is mad at Bill now.

This is a really good response to the controversy.  Where did you find it.  Has it hit the news stations yet?  If not, you have introduce it to the news sources!

Part 2 - Walter Cronkite receives
WFA award 1999 (Not that long ago)

Watch

Walter slams Pat Robertson - 3:30

Hillary supports Walter - 5:17

Now that you see Hillary sticking her nose into this affair, it would be worthwile to check out part 1 and see what this is all about.
(Wow, it seems pretty easy to find controversy on Hillary)
