Here's another diminished run that I got from my jazz teacher / mentor...

#1

LH Chord: G-Bb-Db-E (E dim)

RH Run:

Eb, E, C, Db, A, Bb, Gb, G (Continue sequence down the keyboard)
(Still working out a fingering that works for me..)

#2 - Got this from Horace Silver's solo on Doxy

LH Chord: G-Bb-Db-E (E dim)

RH Run:
G, Bb, E, G, Db, E, Bb, Db
(Still working out a fingering that works for me..)

#3 - Straight up - Diminished Scale over C9

LH Chord: E-G-Bb-D

RH Run: (up the keyboard..)

Gb, G, A, Bb, C, Db, Eb, E, Gb, G
(Still working out a fingering that works for me..)

Resolve on that G to FMaj9.. G-A-C-E in LH

I see now that I have got to get out of te lounge and come in here with yall master's of american music.

I will be printing this out and trying it for myself.  Looking at the clip that DaNatiMaestro put up, I'm wondering what kind of techniques can give me the dexterity to make runs like that.  I can chord like crazy, but my runs need some help.

WHEW!!![/glow]

I've always...& i truly mean ALWAYS!! wanted to learn to play incorporate such runs into my playing (perhaps that's why I wanted to learn the organ at 1 point).

Sometimes the guy at church plays runs for about 15 seconds as an intro before the choir sings & the audience will already be wild!!

I got2 practise these 8)
Thanx guys.

ok, here's my lil contribution to this thread..

This is actually a 2-3-4-5-1 or if U like, a 2-3-4-5-1 progression i scraped together:

key of C

[2]

LH Chord: D-F-A-C
RH Run: Ab,G,(Ab),A,B,C,D (slide from Db),E (slide from Eb)
Finger : 2--1--2--2-3-4-5-4
       or  2-1--2--2-3-4-3-4 or 2

[3]

LH Chord: E-A-C-D
RH Run:  E,F,G,E(slide from Eb),C,A,C
Finger : 2-3-4-2-1-2-1 OR 3

[4]

LH Chord: F-A-B-D-F
RH Run:  A,Ab,G,F,E (slide from Eb),A,C,D,Eb,E
Finger : 4-3-3-2-3-1-2-3-4-4

[5]

LH Chord: G-B-D-F
RH Run:  C,D,E,F,G (slide from F#),E,A
Finger : 2-3-4-5-4-3-1

[1] OR [3]

LH Chord: C-E-C-D-E   or  E-G-B-C
RH Run: G,F,E,D,C,A,C,C (in next octave)
Finger : 5-4-3-2-1-2-1-5

I'd be interested to hear how U cats play this stuff..
