Becoming an acomplished musician
« on: December 31, 2007, 11:29:14 AM »
alot of people wanted to know what are ways to become a professional musician well here are some ways

Change you speaking process of negative to positive such as ( I am not advanced yet) ( I can't) Etc. to (I am advance) ( I can do it) etc. because if you always speak negative you will not be accomplish. like the scriptures says there is lfe and death in your tounge if you always speak death (negative)  on your musicial skills then you will never grow.

learn to play with god, jesus, and holy ghost or holy spirit at the center of your playing because you can play the most phat chords, runs, and etc. but if god and jesus not at the center you will never be great its not how much you know but if the spirit is there.

learn your scales and chords learn to play your scales with your right hand, left hand, and both hands learn to play all 3 finger, 4 finger, 5 finger, 2hands chords. learn inversion of chords learn as many different scales as possible.

learn different progressions or progression with advance chords or combinations of chord progressions.

learn to transpose without using the transpose button unless you are practicing at home by yourself for  example if you are learning a song and the only key you are sufficient in is Ab you can use the transpose to figure out the chords for the song but after you have finished figering out the pattern go try to learn the song the hard way by writing the pattern out and then try to use the pattern at that particular key.

learn sheet music sheet music is very important in gospel music playing because you can learn the arrangement in songs but also it sets you out from other musician because there are some musician who know how to play very good by ear but if they go to a church that want you to play an arrangement by the sheet music they cannot do it. sheet music also allow you to also learn the different runs, and progression and more.

learn to not be limited in one or the other meaning don't be limited to just sheet music or dont try to be limited to just by ear be unlimited in both.

hang with advanced musician in different churches or gigs or anywhere and just talk to them but don't try to compete with them or boast your skills but humble and willing to learn because if you try to compete then the other musician will not trust you with anything and not show you.

learn as much theory as possible to open your mind as possible.

I hope this help and remember you are as good as your effort you put out

I like that last quote You are only as good as the effort you put out!

---- If you show your self to be a perfessional musician that's the way people will look at you!

Another thing is to get familiar with all types of music, not just gospel.  Other styles mixed with gospel will bring your music so much more creativity and spice than just gospel alone.

Actually, one of them should be deleted.  Since this one has other comments in it, I'll leave it up.
