ProMark 50th Anniversary Snare Drum
« on: September 09, 2007, 04:02:57 PM »
I just read about this drum in the Oct '07 issue of DRUM magazine.  It is absolutely stunning.  But wait until you see the price on them.  WHEW!!!!

If I was to buy one of these, it would go in a locked glass display case never to be played.

Anyway, check 'em out.

You're late (like I was late about finding out about the iPod Touch)!  If I were to buy one, it better have a really wide tuning range ('cuz, I would play it - forget whatcha heard)!

That's an obvious facet of technology - it's always evolving, and the early adopters embrace the inevitable.

Even the eventual owners fall victim to the inevitable.  Either way, it's win-win, as long as you are happy with your purchase for what you wanted it to do.  If you're in to having the new thing, then it'll always be a lose-lose situation.

To add to that, I remember getting my first DVD player back in January 1999 - DVD was still a fairly new format (I believe that it was introduced in 1997).  I don't remember what I paid for the player, but you can best believe that it wasn't the same price that you could get one for.  Even the DVDs themselves were more expensive.  But again, that's the known price that you pay for being an early adopter.

The moral of the story is that even if you wait longer to wait for the price to drop, you'll still be behind the eight ball, in terms of technology.

Nah man Dvds were around in the late 80's but they were really expensive and it was not a highly used format because of the price. But yeah now you can buy a DVD player new for 30 bucks!!! As for the iphone; if you still have the receipt for it Apple is giving back the extra money that you paid.

I was going to pre-order an iPod Touch, but being that its only a 8 or 16gig model, I might have to just stick with the classic 80 gig.

You know good and well that DVDs were not 'around' in the late 80s.  Maybe laserdisc, but that's attempting to make the following analogy 100% compatible:

laserdisc=dvd and VHS=beta(max).

The laserdisc is an analog format and the DVD is a digital format.  Also the way that the DVD and laserdisc are structured totally different.  I could go into the differences to prove this, but I digress.

So, no, DVDs were not released in the 80s.

Id rather have something thats 2 months old that works rather than something that just came out that barely turns on!! ;)... I learned my lesson with the 360! I will never buy anything electronic when it is first released because alot of the time its always faulty!

While that's corny as I don't know what, I do know that you're intimately familiar with being a trick - a drum trick that is.  Keep on sticking your stick(s) into those different vent holes, and you're going to contract something, Mr. Follow the bouncing endoresement ball!

How's that alli goin', Jelly Belly?

A limited edition Stanbridge drum that is also a limited edition Silver Anniversary snare for a Stick Company is why the price is where it is. Stanbridge makes "fine furniture" type drums. http://www.stanbridgedrums.com/newsite/index.html
