I love the song, HATE the story.  You can tell it's made up, if you take the story and place it in real life, it's OBVIOUS that it makes no sense.

The young man (who hasn't been identified as a relative of the lady previously) walks up to "the old lady" and asks her "GRANDMAMA, WHY YOU CRYING?"

I'm sorry but I gotta find a way to work that in next Sunday!!!!  I need to laugh my nervousness away!!

Well, I've returned from Greensboro, NC and I have to bring some clarity to these posts.

First, Rev. Wright was paid quite handsomly (stated by him) for his time with us as it was a free concert intergrated into our worship services, so the offering lifted by him was to, "bless this Congress and organization".
Secondly, in the midst of my disappointment, I forgot that he did sing "Trouble Don't last Always" during offering and was TOLD that he DID sing "Jesus Jesus Jesus" at the end of services, but as usual I was in the prayer room working souls into the kindom and did not hear that selection.

I learned that you don't let one persons opinion/ perception shape your reality. Especialy if you don't have one.

At best we can say NJthebishop, bro sorry you had that experience. It does not call NJ wrong or Wright wrong. It does not judge or pass negative thoughts against another man or woman of God.

None of us were there. How do we so easily get caught up in he said she said stuff???  :-\ :-\

I'm sorry that YOU see it as negativity toward an "gospel artist", but the purpose of our requesting his presence was to provide a CONCERT and the "reality" of it was (as I am a certified witness of the occasion) that he came short of providing what was asked.  So what if no one else was there, does that discredit what happened Thursday night.... no!  I'm merely stating what was the reflection of the attutude by our youth concerning his performance.  I would understand your comment if I said something pertaining to his character or personality, but this is addressing the matter of what he does for wages and how it fell short of what was expected.

Geez!! ::)

After reading what most of you had to say I have but one comment.  You will know them by the fruits they bare.  Do you really think that someone should only give what they have been given.  When we say we are coming to minister then what are we doing coming for money, or to minister?  Just my thoughts.

Sorry for what happened to you, and your church NJTheBishopAnderson.  I pray this has not hurt you, or anyone else in your churches ideas of ministry.

 ;D :)

Thanks for the clarity. Too easy to make assumptions as to the purpose of offerings/sacrificial giving in general--just speaking in general.

Oh yeah....

...REDEMPTION CAME!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, the Lord must have known how disappointed we were from the previous night, so he said, "I'm sorry... I got tonight."  :D :D

The ICC (International Congress Choir) sung, "Precious Jesus"... I believe it was about 7:45 as I looked at the clock (time conscience) and you could just feel God's anointing flowing in the auditorium. When they got finished, it was like a Holy Ghost H-bomb went off in that place. NO, y'all ain't hearin me.... let me explain...
There are times when you're in service and the spirit moves mightily and the few get up and shout, dance, scream and run, right?  Umm... this was on a WHOLE 'nother level... I mean there was not one person standing still. Can you imagine 6000+ people shoutin, running, screamin from the Apostles and Bishops to the musicians and ushers (even lil kids)?  People I am NOT exaggerating... the anointing was so heavy and potent that it was almost scary.

As this when on (for over an hour), the Apostle to the youth comes to the mic and says, "Now is the time to be healed, delivered, saved and set free... COME NOW!!! Come as you are to the alter!"  People was coming from every direction to the alter and God moved even more. The congregation switched gears into straight unadulterated worship as those at the alter received their breakthrough.

Well, about two hours into this glory, it is still going on STRONG with no signs of slowing down. When our speaker finally DID reach the podium, it was 10:15 and he said, "Theres really no need for me to preach cause the Lord has done his work." and proceeded to quote Psalms 100 and 150.  WHY DID HE DO THAT???! All I have to say is that Tunesha and Melvin didn't get to the the stage until 1:20AM!!! MY GOD, what redemption!!

...and its ALL on video. Even on my phone!   :P

Wow that is so refreshing to hear ! you don't hear about services to that level too often these days. I'm a little Jealous  ;D

Question for you: I've been on the east coast many times over the Years. I noticed the churches Name "refuge Temple". Is that bishop Bonner ?
I recall that his churches and also bibleway churches, the women had to wear a prayer doilie in church- I can't remember what they are called right off.
Is that still mandatory? not trying to start a debate. I don't care either way, just curious here. I think the last time i was at a Bibleway event it seemed that the rule had been relaxed somewhat. BTW, I do miss the old time holiness way. I know it's not popular and comes under a lot of scrutiny by the modern church but I still miss it and rarely see it anymore

NJ- only that it seemed like a negative experience that you had with Mr. Wright. That may and probablyis valid base don your post. I have no problem with that at all. I'm just saying that the rest of us should not "buy" into that experience because we were not there. To me it's kinda like listening to a 3rd party talk about what someone else said.

Nothin but love just a word of caution because Timothy may come to my town and I want or should simply judge him by what i experienced. Hoepfully we all have the maturity to do that. I hope that makes more sense.

Peace afro's and hair grease!!!! ;D

Yes, there are MANY churches in our organization that are named "Refuge Temple" being that the mother/headquarters church is named such.  They are not all pastored by Bishop Bonner though... just the ones in New York (HQ), Washington DC, Jackson MS and Columbia SC.  Although we have some churches named "Bibleway" also, there is a BibleWay organization that is seperate of COOLJC.

Concerning the doctrinal matters your inquiring about, I'll address them in a PM.

On a tangent a little, but my mom was bibleway.  She married my dad and moved to Utah where there are no bibleway churches.  She loves to go when she goes back to New Jersey.

It's like T-block stated, I can go to my church, for free, and get a GOOD, right now, on-time, Rhema Word from the Lord. When gospel artists preach, they tend to go on and on about nothing.

I saw Donnie McClurkin one time, and he did the same thing, he spoke more than he sang; but it wasn't that bad.

that'sme, you make it sound like folks are wrong if they pay their money for a concert and get a sermon and are upset, for lack of a better word.  :-\

Just be glad that he did NOT do "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus" for twenty hours with the "contrived" Hurricane Katrina story that does not connect.

The choir INSISTED that we sing that for Choir Day next week.  They absolutely love it, which puts me in the position to say something along with the song that is NOT Katrina-related, NOT made up, and DOES connect.  Lord today!!!!

They play that song every day all day on the radio here in our city.  I turn the station because its played out.  That and O Mary dont you weep by the Caravan

IT'S SAD PERIOD WHEN ARTISTS AND/OR PREACHERS ACT THAT WAY.  THERE WAS A SIMILAR SITUATION WITH J MOSS CONCERNING A
CONCERT IN ROCKFORD ILL.   IT WAS A CHURCH CONCERT FEATURING MARVIN SAPP AND J MOSS.  J MOSS WANTED 15,000, AND A LIMO
TO COME AND PICK HIM UP FROM A CHICAGO HOTEL WHEN IN FACT THE CONCERT IS IN ROCKFORD, AND THERE ARE HOTELS IN ROCKFORD
WHEN THE PASTOR WHO  SPONSORED THE CONCERT TOLD J MOSS THAT HE COULDN'T AFFORD TO DO ALL OF THAT, J MOSS DID NOT SHOW UP FOR THE CONCERT.   WHEN MARVIN SAPP WAS ASKED HOW MUCH HE WAS LOOKING FOR MARVIN SAPP GAVE A REASONABLE PRICE AND TOLD THE PASTOR THAT HE WAS REALLY DOING IT FOR THE GLORY OF GOD.  THE CONCERT WENT ON WITHOUT J MOSS.
GOD IS GOING TO HOLD THESE TYPE OF PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE FOR HOW THEY LIVE AND TREAT PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE IN THE MINISTRY TO WIN SOULS FOR CHRIST.
