Timothy Wright cheated us!!

..yeah, he did!! 

Thursday was the start of COOLJC's 67th Annual International Congress (the equivalent to COGIC's "AIM") and last night's guess personality was Rev.Timothy Wright.  What a disappointment!

He comes to the mic with the "usual" churchy intro, then tells the congregation to "get up cause we're 'bout to have a time." and then sings "Enter His Gates" with the Congress Choir.  After bout 10mins he then goes into his rendition of "So I Wouldn't Let Go" and the choir backs him up with "he kept me... God kept me..." over and over. 

He then stops and goes into praise mode... and yeah, we were going there for a minute, I'll admit, but then once again he reverts back to "he kept me... God kept me..." in solo form.  So now we're all standing in anticipation for his next selection and he tells the congregation to sit and then commences to give a mini sermon about praise, worship, holiness, blah blah blah for about 40-45 mins.

Guess what? HE THEN LIFTS OFFERING!!?!?! WHAT DA HEEZEEEE??? ...and during this period he ask for 100 people to bring $100 to the altar. HA!! Only 15-20 showed up and then he yells to a group of saints, "Where y'all going?!?! Y'all walkin out the door, SIT DOWN... SIT, Yeah you... SIT DOWN!!!!! I bet if I was T.D.Jakes I wouldn't have this problem!" Then talks 10 more minutes about how hes just as anointed as Jakes.  Lord help!

An hour and a half and we get one song and half of a song... What a load of.... Well, lets just say we got cheated!!!

That's why I don't get all hyped for these big name people.  I can stay at my own church and have just as good a time.

And actually get some sound teaching at the same time!

Not to mention the fact that some of these big name preachers have big time demands UP FRONT.  Some expect a HUGE amount up front (and that's not including what offering they try to raise after the fact), their entire entourage has to fly in 1st class and be at a big suite at some super-fancy hotel, limos, etc.

Just be glad that he did NOT do "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus" for twenty hours with the "contrived" Hurricane Katrina story that does not connect. 

The choir INSISTED that we sing that for Choir Day next week.  They absolutely love it, which puts me in the position to say something along with the song that is NOT Katrina-related, NOT made up, and DOES connect.  Lord today!!!!

I love the song, HATE the story.  You can tell it's made up, if you take the story and place it in real life, it's OBVIOUS that it makes no sense.

WOW, NJ. Man I'm sorry to hear about that. I know I would have been ticked off myself, to put it mildly. Just goes to further show you that some people need to realize that their time has passed and they need to go 'head and SADDOWN sumwhere! I just bought his new CD and now I don't even really wanna listen to it! Lord help. 

I'm almost 100% CERTAIN that you'll experience a more anointed ministry with Melvin and Tunesha Crispell. I absolutely love them both. Keep us posted.

I don't have a problem when gospel artist preach.  You make it sound like a negative thing.  The offering part  was a little weird though.  I went to a Donnie McClurkin concert and he preached way more than he sang.  People were acting nasty and complaining.  I was shocked at some of the stuff Christian people were saying.  I personally enjoy a singer who can not only minister with song but also in speaking.  Those that just sing and have nothing to say, I have a hard time going to their concerts. 

That's exactly why I don't go to events like midnight musicals.  People at these events only want to hear the music, they don't want to hear the word. 

As Christians we have to be careful what we write and speak.  I would never refer to a person speaking about being holy as blah blah blah....even if I only wanted to hear them sing.

I like Timothy Wright, and I have been blessed by his music ministry.  Also his time will pass when God says so...I'm shocked that you would judge him and the situation and you weren't even there.

It's like T-block stated, I can go to my church, for free, and get a GOOD, right now, on-time, Rhema Word from the Lord. When gospel artists preach, they tend to go on and on about nothing.

I saw Donnie McClurkin one time, and he did the same thing, he spoke more than he sang; but it wasn't that bad.

that'sme, you make it sound like folks are wrong if they pay their money for a concert and get a sermon and are upset, for lack of a better word.
