horrible tambourine players
« on: May 05, 2006, 02:46:52 PM »

Do you'll every get thrown off by someone whose playing the tambourine extremely loud and off beat, Then you got a army of kids with tambourines? I can tune it out on the keyboard but I'm a beginning drummer and it horrible. I think there should be a screening process before someone come into the church with a tambourine. It just feels like I'm in a preschool with a bunch of infants with tambourines.

That's hilarious! It's a pet peeve of mine as well. But I've learned how not to move the tempo no matter what someone else is doing though. Metronome.

lol, that reminds me of the breakdown on Hez' "Clean Inside" on the Toronto album.  The tambourine player got so off that the drummer had to come back in. :D

I've been playing tambourines since the age of 7 and at this point in time, I can truly say that I can give ANY drummer a run for their money.  On time, on beat, on tempo and if it's a tuning tambourine, on sound.  Yeah, sounds crazy huh?? I've trained with the best and you learn how you play WITH the drummer.

Now being in church so long you see the best and the WORST of them. Some folk should be arrested for the way they play.... but they'll defend themselves with Psalms 150:4

Oh ya. A screening process would be nice! I have plenty of horrible Tambourine players in my church!!! Problem is, they think they are good! oh man.

I cant say that they throw me off, but they just aggravate and annoy me. Especially when they lay down a completely different beat than what I am playing! I know where you are coming from. Learn how to block it out. you have to. One way is practicing more and being more confident in your playing.

God Bless.

I've found a way to beat those horrible tambourine players...

I put down my sticks and started playing the bass.  lol since then, I don't really "hear" the tambo player anymore  ;)

Yo, this is mad funny!!  ;D But I feel ya, the church should pass out applications, license or something to play the tambourine... I have a few professional tambourine players in my church..the kind that throw the tambourine in the air and catch it behind their backs.  They can also throw it under their legs and catch it and play on beat...Mad funny... ;D Stay Blessed, Nate J.
