Strange question about "Faithful is our God" Hezek
« on: January 24, 2006, 09:25:46 AM »
Based on me hearing the song a few times, it seems to me like there is a 4-part harmony. Is that what it sounds like to you all? Let me know. Tonight I am going to be teaching the song, and it seems like musically, the tenor part is too low. What y'all think?

I don't hear any four-part harmony, my brother. In addition, I recently attended a church service where they sang this song, and there was no four-part harmony.

I hope this helps.

Believe me, there is no four part harmony and the tenor part is right.  I listen to that song all the time ... I listen to Hez all the time so ... everything is right.

Ok, thanks for your answers and inquiries. I apologize for the crazy question, but I just a little puzzled. Remember what the dumbest question in the world is, "the question not asked."

You know after hearing this song today, it does sound like a bass part is at the beginning but fades out when the choir gets higher

Actually everyone starts at a low note because the song modulates several times... I think 4 in totally.... But they are full step changes...
Aint no half steppin..... HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! (Sorry I couldn't resist :D )

and we don't want to hear what will happen when a choir modulates WAAAAAYYY too high  8O  :?  :x LMBO!!!

Its like the tenors are on a note just below there natural tone... sopranos and altos are singing in the same key... this in the begining for the first 2 bars of faithful...

After the second bar there is a key change... and I thing each bar after that....

during the repetition there is no key change....

*Just a side note* In order for this song to be Fire each section has to be on point and their sound has to be scrisp... if not then they might as well not sing it... I'm just sayin....

I don't know what happened with that last post....but anyway.

That song modulates in half steps from B-Flat to C#.

I am not talking about tenor part. I hear the tenors just fine. I hear a 4th lower part then the tenor part when the song start off."Faaaaithful, Faaaaaaaaaaaaaithful,Faithful is our God"

Now if you guys read the notes in the cover, they do have additional backgroud vocals like Love Unlimited and others that they take to a studio and record over the live recording

I HEAR A 4TH PART AT THE BEGINNING....AND ITS NOT THE TENORS BECAUSE I HEAR THEM ALSO :!:

I thought there was a fourth part as well.  After listening to it a few times, I came to the conclusion that it was the BASS GUITAR the whole time.  Anybody with me on that one?

As I was listening to this 'Fourth part', I noticed that it blended nicely but never said the word itself.  Follow me?

I am not sure what you are hearing.  The tenors start off on A#, the altos on D and the sopranos on F.  There is no fourth below that.  And, in the Music arrangement the Bass comes in on the 1 in the verse up until they say "....God".  And the accents from the bass are in upper registers that can't be confused with Baritone or Bass voicings.

So, I am not quite sure what you were hearing.
