question for all piano majors

It depends on where you want to go study and what their requirements are.  Keep in mind that it tends to take longer to finish a music degree than other degrees unless you have ABSOLUTELY NO LIFE OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL.  Performance majors and Theory majors have it the hardest, I think.  If you have a really good ear and you study really hard, it can be done.  Otherwise, with only four months of lessons under your belt, I wouldn't recommend it because the theory will definitely discourage you.

I never finished my degree.  I started out as a Church Music major (read: piano and organ performance), then switch schools and majored in Music Education, and ended up in Sound Recording Technology.  The physics class messed me up with that last major, along with the fact that I got married and pregnant with my third child.

I have a friend who is about ten years older than me who went back to school to get a degree in piano performance.  He had very little formal training but was an excellent musician.  The theory is what's tripping him up now, but he's slowly getting the hang of it.

The bottom line is this:  nothing is impossible, but not all things are expedient.
