Jfunk those are some nice woods, I have the pacific magazine and I saw it in there. I agree with eccentric and that is the LX is pretty much the same. However how is the research going?

My boy from Puerto Rico has the Sonor 3003 and he tells me that cats keep calling him to play around town because of the sound that they have and the way he plays of course.  Right now, the PDP MX and CX will leave me extra pocket change but the new Sonor 3005 will give me that nice Maple sound because of its 100% Maple shells (like the PDP) but the looks are just outstanding also.  Anyway you look at it, I can't lose.  With the Sonor's my sound can be different than other's.  I can show up at a church and cats can be like "Did you hear those drums?  What?  8O  Those are Sonor?"  You feel me?  I'm still researching though.  Plus, Winter NAMM will be around the corner so I'm sure that PDP will have some sort of upgrade to their MX and CX lines.  Watch and see. 8)

Hmm...  This is a tough choice.  I'd take a look at the Sonor 3003 set:

Yo Jay, that's a nice set.  You should see the 3005's. As a matter of fact, you should hear them then see them.  I see on the Poll that Yamaha won but no one has posted the reason why they are the ones to get.  You guys that voted on the Yammy set, holla.... list some reasons.  I know that I'm not the only one on here looking for a new set.

Jfunk, my church has a yamaha and they are some good drums with a nice sound. Thats why I recommend those as well as Pacific. However you know who I am rolling with, and I would choose yamaha over Sonor. Holla at my boy Sabian, hes a yamaha man, he can give you a butt load of reasons to buy a yamaha.

You are right except that I actually suggested the Sonors. Yamaha, as much as I luv them  and their high-end kits speak for themselves.... they need to step up their game on the mid-range and go all maple or all birch. Yamahas hardware is second to known on all level though.

Midrange kit... I say PDP or Sonor. To be different Sonor these guys are craftsmen.

A lot of folk don't know PDP use to be Collarlock about 6 years ago. Collarlock was a Taiwan based maufacturing subsiderary of DW. They still do low end kits but they are not doing te us market. When PDP first started the kits were made in Taiwan and were made of Philipine Mahaghony. DW since got serious built a factory in Mexico and started using North Americam maple and birch. (A little drum history)

Whats going on man! I think you should jump on the yamaha stage custom. To me I like the attack that it gives off and its solidness. I used to put some hydraulic heads on them and I switched to the G2's and man the sound of the kit is so sweet. I have the jazz kit with the 10, 12, and 14 inch toms. Also its a good price! But its all up to the sound you are looking for, but out of those I would say the stage custom. PDP might be good also!!!!!
